Best Game Engine?

So I was just interested in this topic, and jw what the best game engine is to create games.

I've heard good things about Unity, but as I hear, it only supports C#
But in other places, people say C++ is better.
What is the 'best' language to learn? What is the best game engine?
Is programming hard? What is needed?

How do game engines work? Do they need alot of coding?
Is a game engine basically a more visual way of making games? Rather than just coding?

 

I'm not too experienced in game development, but as for Unity I know it's a lot more click/drag friendly. As well as that there's quite a good amount of packages you can get/buy.

But, c++ is going to be better than c# for speed. But optimization of the code is essential to getting any game to run smoothly.

You could have dirty code and end up with a game like ArmA where you need a top of the range pc build to run it somewhat smoothly, or you can have a game like battlefield which is well optimized. It would depend on your programmers.

 

As a beginner, what do you suggest: C# or C++ ?
If I learn C#, will it be easy to move onto C++ ?

I hear Unity only supports C#...is Unity the best game engine, compared to cryTek or Unreal?

I am also sure he has the unreal development kit playlist also, that will get your started if you were to use that.

EDIT: Also remember that indie game development is not really a good market to be entering.
