    Being A Comedian?

Lots of my friends told me that I'm really funny and hilarious. And some of them said I should be a comedian. I was just like "alright ahah" and never actually thought about it and took it as a joke.

Now thinking about it, I actually think I could be a comedian. But where do I start? How does one start becoming a comedian. I'm not really good at being in front of a bunch of people and terrible at presenting and stuff like that since I have stage fright.

If you have to question your self if your comedian material or not you're probs not best at being one.

You start by going to open mic night at comedy clubs. You keep doing that for a while until you get picked up for a paid gig (keep in mind you'll start out getting paid very little), then it snowballs from there. The biggest thing you need to work on is your stage presence. If you can't get comfortable on stage and in front of people, you're never going to make it. I suggest watching other comedians. You also nee to have a certain method of delivery. Don't copy other comedians, though, try to be original. Nobody likes a copycat.

Maybe you should post a video of yourself on YouTube (without using a script and letting it flow (editing out the errors of course)) and then let us give our personal view on your "performance"?

I guess you haven't heard of Mitch Hedberg?

Also, You go to open mic nights and do your stuff. To help with confidence, join a club. There is this club around where I am called "The Toast Masters" and it's basically about making toasts and such. It helps A LOT with your stage fright. Lots of people that join it are people who are shy in public and afraid of public speaking. It helps you build your confidence. Find a club like that and just dive in.

if your thinking about being a comedian as a profession or career, don't....

Comedians dont get paid anything or much at all (unless your like Chris Rock).

If your just doing it because you're bored and have nothing to do, then I think you should go ahead and do it then.

Open Mic Night Clubs is a good way to start :) But stage fright may be problematic..
