    Getting around a CMD Lock

    Getting around CMD Locks/Bans

    Introduction

If your a big time user of CMD (Command Prompt), i'm sure you've been in a situation where you've been locked out of CMD (See the image below.) My guide will teach you how to get around this lock, by simply writing in a few words into Notepad!

    Guide

    Step 1.

Open up a notepad document (Easy enough) then type in or copy and paste:

    Step 2.

Next you'll need to save it, but where going to be saving this document a little differently. Click "Save" as usual, however save the File name as "Command Prompt.bat" or "CMD.bat" If you don't save it as a .BAT File, it will only open the .TXT document, not the Command Prompt screen.

    Step 3.
Go to the place where you saved the .BAT file, double click, and CMD should appear, this time, without the lock!

    Why use CMD?

CMD can do hundreds of things. Such as Pinging another computer, server or website, Shutting down another computer, or finding your I.P. Too see a full list of commands, and how to use them, check out ss64.com's full list of commands.

    Thanks

    Additional Note

An alternative way is to do what AAMagneta has pointed out below.

Mitchell: A good friend of mine from school, he originally taught me how to do this.

ss64.com: For supplying a full list of commands for CMD.

    You: For reading my guide!

It looks lovely now. :) You might want to use 2 or 3 different colours though. Don't only stick to one, IMO. One of your pictures is broken, by the way.

Brendan told me as he was writing his guide that he wrote it specifically for this. So yes, it will help you get around the CMD block at school.

This is not an exploit and will not work on a properly configured machine.

It depends sometimes you can't even create .bat file if the group policy is set correctly. Some networks are configured to now allow the "CMD" service to open for any reason unless an administrative account is logged on.

Your schools IT staff is incompetent and thus that is why they work for a school. In a business environment where computer usage is highly restricted this would not fly.

Good job! If you can get on cmd that easily, then chances are you can already do whatever you want on the computers.

    Getting around a CMD Lock

Hey. Good guide. Also there is an easier way. You can put this in your guide.

Do all the same steps except for the "@echo" stuff just type "command.com" and save that as a .bat and run it.

Wow, I never knew that. Would you be OK with me adding this into my guide? With your thanks, of course.

Yeah. I'll investigate into it a little more. I may be able to find another exploit.
