I get the general purpose of it is to hide your IP, but can someone explain to me what all is necessary, and what purpose it serves?

some people like to hide their identity on the internet. someone might go read some weird stuff on the internet but doesn't want their IP logged on the website just to be safe. some people get banned from websites and go around the ban to view the websites through VPN. some people bot runescape and use them to hide their real identity from jagex. basically, in the end it's really just to hide your identity. i use it often especially to download torrent's since they've already flagged my IP and my ISP gave me shit

Some people believe Jagex does IP flags or watches IPs. That's why they want to switch IPs. It's very possible but it's up to you whether you believe it or not.

I'm wondering what the chances are of botting 2 accounts on proxies 8 hours a day getting banned? If anyone can help me that would be appreciated

A VPS is basically a virtual (on screen) computer. Where it has the start button in the bottom left and everything like a normal computer. You would have to download anything necessary such as java and what not on them.

A VPN is using your computer except when traced it would show up as a different state or even country. For example, you could use it in Florida and when someone looked up your IP it would show them that you lived in California. You get to select from your VPN's choices where it will show you.

A Proxy is a website that acts like a VPN (when put into other words) mostly seen by students in a school and used to get on websites that the school has blocked.
