    Sythe.org Vs. My Life

    I'm not really looking for sympathy or pity but more input and advice.

    Here's my story:

    So I made my sythe account back in Feb, and was scammed 100m, then I quit until June, when a friend of mine mentioned about making money off of runescape gp.

    I re-joined sythe in around June, and set up my rsgp store which has been active since then.

    Recently, I've been spending in excess of 8 hours on sythe during weekdays, and over 14 on weekends. I've sacrificied my social life, and my girlfriend for sythe - making $. I'm currently 17 and at College. I've missed out on Essays, coursework because when I get through my door, I boot up my PC and that's it for the night.

    Taking an example from today;
    * I finished college at 3pm
    * Sythe 4pm - 2am

    I haven't eaten yet, and I'll be visiting my kebab shop in about 5 minutes to grab something, before it's back to sythe till 2am.
    I don't exercise either really at the moment, the most being walking to college or the kebab shop.

    If someone calls when I'm doing a value trade I wont answer, if someone calls and asks to go out with me, I'll decline... You get the picture.

    As I said earlier, I'm not looking for pity, but advice, should I lower my activity and/or leave sythe for good and loose out on £800+ a week for my life back? Or, continue and just hope to god I pull something out the bag when my exams come in January.

    As for happiness, I'm not generally that happy, regardless of being on sythe or not. The ability to buy expensive material goods does bring me some joy, but then again that's an extremely shallow outlook on life.

    Save your trolling for the pms please.

    Thanks -

    Alex

    Well, I thought you had joined a lot earlier =O (just noticed now).

    Regardless - you need to find a balance of things. Going out with friends is good, it might help you relax, and you can go on sythe when you're done with homework and/or you have free time.

    Awe :(, Money making can be addictive but it should NOT take over your life.
    I think if you really need to... Sell off your stock and take a break and try to get things going good for you IRL again.

    Your girlfriend and your social life are way more important than money making. There is ALWAYS money to be made. There isn't always a girlfriend / social life waiting for you.

    Honestly, take a break and sort your life out. It's well worth it. As for coming back I'd say to limit yourself, max 2-4 hours a day online doing trades. Sure you sacrifice some money, sure you sacrifice some customers.
    But you'll have many more important things in your life.

    College is your most important thing right now, flunking out of college would be horrible, and your paying ( most likely ) a lot of money to be there in the first place.

    College is suppose to be about making friends everywhere, even if you were that strange kid in highschool. Wasting your social life on Sythe, is a bad choice. Higher a worker if you want to still make your normal income from sythe, but failing exams really isn't an option; or at least it wouldn't be for 95% of people who are in your shoes.

    It looks like you are making your living out of this, then this is just a typical, addiction to work.
    I am sorry if it sounds ridiculous, but have you tried setting work hours?
    With the trust you have, it shouldn't be difficult to keep getting a lot of cash with lessened amounts of work.
    I would start by not working at all on weekends. The hardest thing to do with addictions is to avoid something when you have nothing to do at all. You obviously won't drop sythe and immediately go out with friends.
    I do not know what you can do or what you like to do outside of sythe but hopefully if you get to drop sythe for the weekends it won't be difficult to do other things on weekdays.
    I would think that if you try to leave sythe forever you are probably going to come back here because of the money.
    I spend a lot of time here too and I don't even win money. I started to feel a real change when I stopped visiting the sythe on weekends

    You can still do everything you do on Sythe, just don't spend as much time.
    Although I do value Sythe, I value my social life and fitness more, just go out with your friends when they invite you out, do your Essay's before you get on the computer (or if your doing them on the computer, just don't go on Sythe if it's too distracting).

    People think I am extremely active on Sythe and that I must never leave the pc. But I am going the gym, going out with friends etc, I just use my phone for the internet, you could always try getting a phone with the internet. You just can't trade while you're on your phone.

    Thanks for all the input so far guys, as for weekends, weekends are the busiest time for me, friday night and saturday being the most active. I think last Saturday made around £400. That would be instead of going out, getting high and ending up in some girls bed.

    Pull back on some time on Sythe to do other things. Chill out with some friends, don't worry to much about Sythe. Real life is more important, but having Sythe is useful.

    You don't have to get out every night, but it's best if you do go out occasionally.

    Again I'd like to say, you could have a partner I guess that could help you with gold sales, so you could have more of a social life?

    Don't quit completely. I really wouldn't suggest that you lose a 1k/month+ income. You're in college, after all. It's all about self control. Treat it liek an addiction if it helps-- taper down a little bit. Make a goal, or a daily quota that you can't go a certain amount above.

    Put a set amount of time in which you will work and hire someone to help you out with your sales. This way, you will earn like usual as well as enjoy being outside. There are many people like me who just stay at home most of the time doing nothing after school hours, etc. College is very important and it's important you don't flunk out. Good luck! btw, I'm in High School which is not too hard or important like College.

    Yah.. think of this as your job. Have a life and don't work "overtime", if you will.

    One simple thing, go out on the weekends, drink and go too partys if you can. Weekdays are normally shit so keep making that $ then and think of friday + saturday as days off and go enjoy yourself.

    Is that £800 profit per week? Also, cut down your time on Sythe by half? At least £400 still coming in and some happiness?

    I'd say limit yourself on Sythe.
    I'd say social life comes before the internet, even if you are earning an impressive amount on a weekly basis.

    As RStrader said - split time in half, split profit in half, double happiness.

    No reason you can't do both, strict time management is all you need to consider. I'm quite active in gold trading but have managed to keep my marks high by doing homework while waiting for trades (if I get a break) and if its getting late and I have something I need to do I be sure to just set myself to away on msn and not respond to buyers if im strapped for time. Still working out pretty much everyday aswell, can't devote yourself 100% to something, gold trading isn't a be all end all by any means.
