automated pm when joining update

basicly i think when you join sythe you get a pm saying welcome etc - not sure of this its been awhile since i last ban evaded <-- i make funny

Pretty much make it short and sweet and include the links to the threads like how to trade properly, how to request a mm etc etc, you know all these little helpful tips on safe trading included in the pm.

it may or may not help prevent a few newcomers from getting scammed, but i don't see how it could hurt, as then they can't bitch about not knowing scammers lurked er corner etc etc.

I joined recently and no it does not happen. I think this would be a good idea personally I had to ask around to find out what a lot of things are. Seems pretty basic to implement as well.

 

It's a basic vBulletin feature too, so very easy to implement... At least in 3.7 and up it is, not sure about 3.6.

 

I'm pretty sure that one of these was designed a while back by SuF with the help of feedback, not sure if it ever got implemented though.

right, but thats buried all the way at the bottom of the site, basicly the pm would just direct everyone to threads like that.

 

It's on the Sythe.org Support section, I don't think that it's too hard to find it if you need help. It's not like the section's name is community general or something else.

I'll push this to Sythe when I chat with him next, and work with him on compiling a list of the threads/links we want in the PM, and try and get him to implement this.

As you can see this was made easier in VB4, but seeing as we run VB3.6 it's unlikely that it's easy to implement.

 

i suggested this shit months ago and sythe has done nothing about it except writing the tutorial

 

There is a scrolling bar on the left that pops up every time you visit the site if you are not logged in, it already has these things.

 

never seen it before, i'm always logged in.

 

It's been adressed in the form of the pop-up thingy but the PM thing eould be difficult to implement
