Do you think the USA government should use torture methods on terrorists?

Lately there has been lots of new about how the Bush administration used torture methods on terrorist to prevent terrorist attacks. These had been useful but the obama administration is totals for doing away with it. What do you think on the matter,

My thoughts.

Torture methods are very un-humane. But I strongly believe that since terrorist don't play by the rules of war these methods are OK to use on them. For say that the usa captured some prisoners It would never be used on them. But since terrorist main goal is to kill and scare as many people as possible i beleive that it is ok to be used on them

What method would you use to get information from terrorist

 

They are using non violent torture techniques. People actually have a job, to find out good non violent torture techniques to sell to the FBI or the government for them to use against them.

If they are a confirmed terrorist, I don't care.

 

Same with the confirmed terroist

 

They should be used as examples, not to every terrorist. And also, if we do use them, I'm fine if they can't cause psychical/mental damage. Main reason why I say this is because, they were raised to be terrorists, so they really had no choice, but we still should show examples of what could happen to them via demonstration.

You don't understand how torture is against all violations of the World Treaty - No Torture under any circumstances. No one is stopping the U.S. from doing all of these actions because no one wants to fuck with the U.S. That's how much power the U.S. has, just to scare people.

 

Terrorist terrorize all countries. I doubt the US is the only to get a hold of one and try to squeeze some info out of them to save lives of their own people.

 

I think we should. I bet almost all counties do. Some things must be done to ensure the safety of your country.

I'm all about consistency. If your going to torture terrorists you might as well torture other criminals. I see no reason to make discrimination.

 

The US government has been using torture methods for years, and has anything gotten better? No, terrorists are blowing things up now more than ever before. So torture really serves no reasonable purpose.

 

A person's basic and natural rights should go before anything, including imminent danger to other people's lives. The precedent this type of policy sets is very concerning to me. In this case, the ends don't justify the means.

Obviously if they dont give you what you want to know, you will keep on torturing them until they cant take it anymore, and tell you what you want to hear.

In all honesty, as long as there is considerable proof that the individual in question is a terrorist I have no issues with torture of any form being used on them. If they are willing to commit the atrocious acts that terrorists do then I sincerely hope they get tortured.

 

I really do not care but I will still argue. Torture is not a good technique for gaining information. The person being tortured will say anything to stop the pain that there is a very large chance that the person will lie. Since the agents carrying out the torture already know what they want, they will continue torturing the person until they give them the information that they want. This happens even if the person does not know the info that the agents want which causes them to lie.

Secondly. Bush is a terrorist. These people are not. Bush invaded a country, took over, killed thousands of innocent people and had the nerve to call others terrorists. The 9/11 attacks could have been prevented if we did not have morons in charge of government agencies that are supposed to keep us safe. These "Terrorists" fight for what they believe is right. Bush fights for what he believes is right. Therefore Bush is a terrorist. Prove my fail logic wrong.

Thirdly. There is no need to use it. None at all. If people did their jobs right, things like 9/11 would not have happened. 9/11 would have failed if the people had continued monitoring the people when they entered the US. Instead they stopped, did not inform the FBI or CIA and just were like o well.

 

They don't need to torture regular criminals because you really can just trick them. Terrorists are bred to hate and discriminize for no reason, no questions asked. You don't go against your family for the sake of being shunned. So if you are told not to tell anyone anything. You will not. But you must get into the minds of the terrorists to get the information.

Are you sure on how many terrorist acts torture has not stopped?

The means - Breaking down a persons mind for information
The ends - Many lives being saved

I think the end justifies the means.

 

Wrong. I do not feel these "Terrorists" are terrorists. Bush is more of a terrorist than they are.

It does not save lives at all. The information gained should not be trusted and can be gained in other ways.

Many people DID do their jobs right on the date of 9/11, but the pilots were deliberately confused, as more than 10 hijack PRACTICE scenario's were carried out at the exact same time, the pilots had no idea where to go. I know this is probably one of the most argued things ever but 9/11 wasn't carried out by men living in a cave. 9/11 was carried out by the U.S Government to make the US people AFRAID of terrorism, making people put all their hope to the US government, giving them more power.
