    Broken iPhone screen

Okay, so I was at a party and my friend was being extremely dumb and he asked for my phone.

I give him the phone thinking "Whatever, he won't guess the password anyways."

He tries to guess it but gets locked out, I ask for it back after a few min, and he had taken off the case for some reason, and as he basically tosses it (not even toward me) and BAM the iPhone hits the kitchen tile floor. I think he was just tired or something and the phone slipped out of his hand.

I was completely unaware that it was cracked until he picked it up and was like HOLY SHIT. It's in pretty bad condition, probably 75% of the screen is covered in cracks but it's still touch sensitive.

I had an iPhone 3GS, and my warranty was over...My 2 year contract ends this September, and I was planning on upgrading to the new iPhone (which Apple still hasn't announced...)

Anyways, I was pretty pissed at him for some reason and I pushed him around for a little and he was really sorry.

He agreed to pay for a repair...but I Google it and Apple charges $200 for a broken glass repair...but I find this site called iresq.com and it does it for $70 not including shipping rates.

I feel really bad since I swore my ass off at him and I really overreacted, so I don't know if I should make him pay for the whole thing or pay for it at all.

Also, I want some advice as to if I should use iresq.com because I did a little research and it's a legit site supposedly.

I don't want to wait it out till September because the phone has little glass shards whenever you touch it and it makes using it a real pain.

If your friend broke it he should pay for it, but it's still very courteous of him offering to pay it as he could of easily shrugged you off. If you feel that guilty just take him out for dinner or something will probably make you feel better and possibly him as well.

Make him pay for it, even though it wasn't purposely done, you have to still pay for your mistakes. When you get into a car accident, the person didn't do it on purpose but must still suffer consequences for his or her mistake. And I can say iresq is a very legit site.

    A) Is it under warranty
    B) Do you have iPhone insurance
    C) Do you have house insurance.

    Just fuckin' claim.

I know you are thinking "What does he know", but I had 3 3G's, 4 3GS's, and I'm on my 3rd I4. People often drop mine, the glass breaks, the system overheats, goddamnit the lock button even gets stuck down. Just don't be worries about your "No Claims", you pay incase you need to claim, a phone isn't going to majorly affect a claim for if you get robbed of everything, or if your house burns down.

In the Apple labs it could cost $200, but there are personal labs which take much less. If you have those in your country then you shouldn't worry too much and just visit or send your iPhone to one of those labs.

It could be a price difference of $100.

I would say make him pay for it. That happened to me last time except it was an ipod, my friend carelessly tossed it around then broke it and said "sorry ill pay for it". I was gonna make him pay for it but since i was a nice guy i didnt, after i payed i fully regreted it.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty sure he's eager to pay and I'll probably take him out to dinner or something. I got over it and I just felt really guilty

And I DONT BOT, thanks for the suggestions but my 3GS warranty was only 1 year because I didn't want to pay the extra $69 for an extended warranty when I bought it...

I don't have iPhone insurance either :/ (I'll probably end up getting it when I get a new iPhone this fall)

I don't understand what house insurance would do...And the party wasn't at my house anyways.

    Thanks to everyone again :D

I do think he should pay for it. You shouldn't have overreacted as he probably didn't do it on purpose, so you should appologise to him for that. He'll understand.

Maybe pay 50/50? He should still pay for breaking your phone though.

Ask him to pay for it, but give him a sort of "thank you" gift or take him out to dinner. It kind of balances out, and you both will feel better about the situation.

People make mistakes. Its right for him to pay but don't make him. Enough said.

If he offered to pay for it, or agreed to he is probably sorry. Just talk to him and say how you let things get out of hand, but he broke it so he should get it replaced or fixed.
