I am addicted..

so basically I'm addicted to the internet and video games it's ruining my life..


and this month is the most important month in my whole life because I have final exams and if I want to go to a good university I need good marks.. and I can't study more than 20 mins then thinking of turning the computer on..

I thought about telling this problem to my parents by they will take the computer away from my room and yell at me .. and this won't help me at all...
and after tomorrow I have an exam with 100 pages didn't study a thing even I had 4 days to study....

I really need help any suggestions :S ?


edit: I just came from school I fucked up in the exam as I expected but the good thing I moved the computer out of my room to my sister's room and I know for a fact I won't use it a lot because of my annoying sister that will keep asking me to leave her room..

also in the school we have 4 certificate for each 2 months

first 2 months I got 96/100 in the half year I got 84/100 just got the months that past and took 93/100.. still in the last certificate I fucked up 3 exams till now IT, math and history I have 7 exams left and I am going to study a lot ...

I'm kinda late on all my college shit too. I smoke too much weed so it makes me unmotivated, but I've had somewhat decent marks all the way throughout high school and I'm finishing high school with a GPA of 87.445% and ranked ~33 out of 115 students.

This is what I think you should do. You should turn off the computer, and try to study. Study for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, then turn the computer on for 10-20 minutes. Repeat. If you keep this going, you will be able to process the information better, and you will be able to study at least more that you are right now.

 

Go out with your friends.

 

I got rid of my addiction to computer games by getting new hobbies. lol but those new hobbies could probably make you lazy again. I know your parents said they would yell at you but don't mention anything about the test, just tell them to unplug the internet or remove the computer from your room, not because you need to study because they would get pissed you left it to the last minute, but because you just want to calm down about it and then you'll have time to study.

 

well i was ranked 2 out of 60 student my gpa was 96 then dropped to 84 now i will get around 50 or 60 :S

I had a mate which had important exams too, so he just stopped playing for 2 months... Tell to urself that u wont play cuz studying s more important than games, or ask a friend(if you have one ,haha, lol bad joke =p) or ur parents to steal ur comp from you for some weeks...

 

No offense but if you can't pull yourself off the computer you either do not give a shit about school, or you have an extremely serious problem and should seek professional help.

Don't use computers as a reason to blame your fuck ups on ;/

I have this problem too, I just remove my internet cable downstairs, so I don't have internet access. and I'm able to study (I only study Latin, everything else I just pay attention in class). works well.

 

Jumangi is right, u gonna regret if you dont stop no lifing NOW , so throw ur comp by the window, and gl with ur exams =)

 

I can't study at home near my computer. It's always "oh I'll just check one thing" and then the next thing I know I've wasted 25 minutes.
Go to the library, you need a change of scenery I think.

Wow, you have the same problem I have. I play way to much video games, computer, etc. I can't be bothered to do my schoolwork. I can't really give you anything, but there will be a day when you realise how fucked up your life is and you will get depressed. That is when you will change. My day has come already.
LOL, you might think it's a joke, but I'm serious.

 

yaaaa kinda happened to me too i preferred to go on the computer or play my xbox then my homework now if i get 1 more suspension it will be with the super intendent >.<

and even after hearing that im like meh.

Anyways, if you seriously can't control yourself, then there's not other option then to remove the computer from your living space. If you need the computer for school (obviously you do), then go to the Library for it. This removal of your usual scenery, and the embarrassment of playing computer games in a public Library should keep you in line. Eventually, you can place the computer back in your home, but be wary. You may relapse if you let your guard down for even a moment. Don't let yourself get caught up in online things if you honestly can't afford it.

Also, don't let anyone tell you that it isn't an addiction. They have no clue what you're like, or what your story is. And even if they did, they have no room to judge others. *Insert more sound advice that is horribly cliche*

You shoould never study near a computer unless you are doing homework on it which is a different topic...
but yeah study on a table in the kitchen, or outside or on your porch and you will find it much easier

lol i failed last year because of runescape. so i got my account banned and made sure i couldnt get it back. now ive started playing on my xbox trying to get my gamerscore up. sadly i wagged the last two days of school to just get my gamerscore up. sad i know. but dude go to a library. there boring as hell usually full of books from which you can use to study and vola! thats what i do but i still stayed home so meh....
