Casual Gaming vs Hardcore Gaming [PC vs PS3]

Just bought a new laptop which has 8GB RAM and a GT 630M.
Also an owner of a PS3.

would most games work on my laptop? LoL, Crysis, BO2, BF3 etc..

What do you guys prefer? Playing games on a laptop (Hardcore gaming), or playing on a PS3? (Casual Gaming). What is more fun in your opinion.

With the next gen consoles coming up soon, what would be the wise decision?

My 2 cents: I think consoles are the way to go, its a fair play as everyone has the same machine, so thats the same factor, only thing affecting it is ping.

    Opinions?

It all depends on you, if you like PS3 better then you like it better if you like PC then you like PC.

I prefer PC, games are cheaper and easier and instant download.

I prefer Xbox/Playstation for shooter games, though I do enjoy RPG and RTS games on the PC. I really wouldn't even consider 'Hardcore' gamers fitting mostly in the PC group than the console group really.

Console gaming will always have a place in my heart but PC gaming is where it's at.

I'm biased but there are many more pro-gamers who play PC.

PC gaming IS better imo, but only if you're able to run games on the high end settings.

Your laptop would most likely run most modern games medium-high on lower resolutions. This is a big difference to how maybe someone would run the same game maxed/ultra at 1080p.

In the shortrun consoles. However in the long run PC's can be upgraded to be much better, and as above poster has said games are much cheaper.

I have my days where I love playing my PS2 (Not exactly a XBOX or ps3 I know), but there's days I just love to sit on the computer and game all day.
Depending on my mood is depending on which I turn to, but now having a PS2 emulator on my computer, I guess I'm more hardcore casual gamer? lol.

Your laptop would run most games pretty high graphics too aslong as you have a half decent processor

and PC overall, Only consoles I enjoy are Gamecube and n64 (although i played n64 the other day and the controller is just complex now )

I prefer PS3 as its a pretty laid back community, but i think Xbox is the hardcore platform of gaming.

With all the controversy surounding next gen i think ill probably be switching to pc very soon. As for consoles i have a ps3 because the exclusives are way better then xbox. I might get a ps4 when it becomes more established. No way id get either console on release day. Ill probaby wait a few months to a year.

I've played games on both PS3 and PC and find personally PC to be more enjoyable just because of the variety of games + them not costing as much. But there is one really good thing about consoles and its what you mentioned in your original post and that is everyone has an even playing field.

As for next gen consoles im not going to bother with them, i'm buying a new PC actually, as most of the time the consoles are way overpriced to start out and so are the games on them.

So the 'wise decision' atleast in my opinion would be to buy a PC as you can use it for more than just gaming + if you're looking to play a variety of games it will be much cheaper on PC.
