As a newer seller, what are payment methods I can safely accept?

(Hoping this is the right section to ask.)

PayPal doesn't have seller protection for digital sales.

CashApp can be charged back if sent from card rather than balance I believe? I've not found a way to confirm it's sent from balance.

I'm not aware of any methods besides crypto I can guarantee I won't be taken advantage of as a newer seller and I'd love some help.

they do - as long as it was sent from paypal balance and the dispute is based on paypal.
if it's a dispute based on a creditcard, it's basically a 50/50 gamble regardless of your evidence.
this only applies if sent as goods & services, f&f offers no protection

 

PayPal can always be charged back, regardless of how it's sent. It's a myth that friends & family payments can't be reversed.

If you truly want to be 100% safe, the only payment form you should accept is crypto. Every other payment has some form of risk to it (other than like, WU I suppose). Once you start accepting other forms of payment, you'll be putting yourself at risk. Most of the bigger sites accept other options simply because their margins allow for it.

 

I had someone test this with me. He sent it to me from his balance, his receipt shows whether he paid from cash or credit. Mine always says "Cash" regardless of where he sent from. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

 

Seems like not many people pay with Crypto which sucks because I can't afford to lose a $300 sale because someone decides to chargeback on PayPal or CashApp or whatever...

 

Then just don't do those transactions my man. It's not worth the risk most of the time. Just deal in Crypto, and walk people through buying it when possible.

 

Do you know of a way more simple than having them sign up for Coinbase/Kraken/Binance? Those websites take up to 3 days before they can buy any crypto.

Also, is Crypto through CashApp able to be charged back? Maybe I can ask them to use CashApp to purchase crypto and send it to me.

 

No, crypto through cashapp can't be charged back. I have lots of people send me btc through CashApp. There's also other things depending on where the buyer is from. Canadians have Shakepay, US has Cashapp, etc.

Paxful - decent, easy. However it's p2p trades, they CAN get scammed there.

Sythe - great, slightly difficult. Majority of threads there only BUY crypto. The ones that do sell charge generous premium

 

If they get scammed on Paxful is it considered my fault?

As of right now my options are Coinbase/Paxful/Sythe/CashApp for Crypto and... CashApp for cash. Pretty limited lol.

 

It's not. however it's not unlikely that people will just not bother

Do you think this is accurate? Apparently after reading through PayPal's terms they do have seller protection for intangible goods but it requires proof of delivery. So... Would a call or text chat of them confirming on Discord that it is in fact them + recording of me trading to them in-game be proof enough?

I appreciate all your help everyone who's replied I'm just trying to open up options to myself as a returning seller.

Maybe I could do the good old "you're buying an e-mailed guide to RuneScape + 500m" and then the e-mail being sent is proof enough of the transaction?

NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, PAYPAL IS ALWAYS REVERSIBLE.

 

I for one have actively sold with paypal.
as long as they send money from their paypal balance, rather than a creditcard / bank account, you will win 99% of the disputes, as long as you can provide solid evidence that you have delivered the goods.

if they send from a creditcard or bank account, and charge-back trough their creditcard or bank account, your odds are... 50/50 regardless of your evidence of the completed transaction.

Is there a way to confirm they sent from PayPal balance same as CashApp? Where they send their payment link and it will inform you?

above being said, disputes happen, more often than i'd like to admit.
and... regardless of the outcome, your funds will be locked up for multiple days if not weeks
