    I'm Back

Hello Sythe forum members of old. I was an active member of this forum about, oh I don't know, two years ago. I was 12 years old at the time and one might say a complete moron, when it comes to programing. I am 14 soon to be 15 and recently my father prompted me to pick up a Java book. Although I have half-ass'd (correct spelling?) some other programing books, I really want to learn a language inside and out. I was considering either Python or Java since my father, naturally being a programmer, can code in both. I am not so much interested in Rune Scape itself anymore (what kind of person over the age of 12 really is?) but I am anxious to learn an Object-oriented language and apply it to something. And I think that this time around the concepts will be much easier to grasp since I have almost completed Algebra 1 (it's my freshman year). The Java book my father's friend lent me is called "Objects First With Java: A Practical Introduction using BlueJ (second edition)." This is supposedly an excellent book for someone such as myself, a beginning programmer who can understand basic concepts. I would very much appreciate it if people would direct me to tutorials and such so that once I have adequate knowledge, I could start basic scripting. I plan to be regularly checking my mail ([email protected]), and my AIM SN (irollwithbill, ha don't ask). Drop me a few posts and leave your thoughts.

Yea, actually it's been longer than that. I was a member years ago, but this account is not my oldest.

lol i message him in AIM and tell him the best way to learn is by examples from other people's source codes and he just flames me like he knows what he is doing because his dad is a programmer. [sarcasm](because obviously, you inherit aquired traits from your parents)][/sarcasm]

if the best way is to learn by book then don't post on a forum for help.. go read your book.
and yup.. i'm the programming noob.. says the guy who still doesn't know the concepts of java.

That's great buddy. I didn't say being a member of a forum made you a n00b. But I would rather learn the concepts from experts first. And actually I'm sure plenty of people learn from book, before the concepts were posted on forums and sugarcoated. Don't get me wrong, forums are a great place to learn. But notice how I don't go around saying I can code Java when I really suck at it...
