    Is WoW worth buying?

My friend gave me a 10 day free trial since he bought WoW. (a 10 day pass came free in it for new users) Im already level 37, but yesterday that 10 days trial ended.

I did enjoy playing in those 10 days. However the thing i hate is that you have to pay $20 to buy the starter WoW + BC and a extra $30 for each extention pack.. it all adds up to about $70 and that's not including the new expansion pack coming out soon (MoP). Plus on top of that you have to pay an additional $15/month.

This game will cost more than a Wii, and this is just one game... I also have a tendency to play a game for like a month or two and then quit and play another game (the only game i've played on an off for years is Runescape).

Also i could jst get a private server like legacy-wow or MoltenWoW.

So is it worth buying, I've been thinking about this for a while. So Real WoW vs Private Server?

In my opinion it's worth it. I know that buying all expansions may cost alot. I reccomend that you buy it from a different store than Battle.net, it's very overpriced at their site.

I saved alot when buying it from Gamestop.

Hope everything goes the way you want it! :)

My friend spent, or wasted a lot of money on WoW; he stopped playing it after two months and said it gets boring after a while.

I love it man, I've been playing for years when no other game has been able to capture my attention for more then a month or two.

It's the type of game where if you make friends and whatnot, you're not going to want to stop playing. Join a good guild, get to 85 and start to raid and PvP and you'll really get into it. If you keep to yourself and can't devote yourself to a nice friendly guild then I'd say don't go for it as it's not worth spending all the money.

If you have any questions just let me know and I'll try my best to help you out.

I was wondering the same thing I have never played WoW, I have heard mixed reviews about it. I have played RuneScape for years, and thought I might give WoW a try.

Who says you have to buy the expansions? I tried it for one month and it just simply wasn't my thing, I'm not denying it's a good game. You can just buy the starter pack for now and see how things go, and if you find you seem to by enjoying the game a lot then you could start considering the expansions. You don't have to buy everything in one go.

The game gets a lot more interesting at maxed level since you can raid with groups, que up for high end dungeons, do heroic dungeons, gather higher item level gear and attempt heroic raids which are always a challenge. I personally enjoyed levelling my first toon to 85 but after that I enjoyed the end game so much I found it boring to level up another toon.

Punjabi3 is right. I have friends that play WoW and they are always raiding with groups (They're max level). But when I started a character just to try it, it was very boring at first. Same goes for most MMORPGs. Until you are a higher level, it can be tedious and boring.

    Is WoW worth buying?

I played WoW for about 3 months, I had a friend that wallked me through everything and taught me what to do. As I got the hang of it my friend gave me some of his ingame money. The game is alot more fun when you can buy whatever you want ;). But i played without buying any expansion packs just the regular old WoW. I would have kept playing except the lag on my comp was unbearable. Kind of like you Runescape is the only game ive played on and off for years. Also Just like laptop said you don't need to buy the expansions all at one time, you could buy 1 at a time and move on to the next one when/if you're ready or even just play the regular WoW untell you find that you like it enough to buy the next expansion.

I haven't played since WotLK beta, but I found BC and Vanilla to be extremely fun, but post BC the direction they took with it was not what I found fun. If you are competitive and looking for a good way to show you are better this really isn't a game for you, if you are just going to be a casual/moderate player then it could be plenty of fun for you.

I believe it's worth it, if you make good friends with people you will not want to stop, also there is so much content that will keep you busy for a long time.
