    Are we using alien technology?

    http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/67615-28-alien-technology

I'm not 100% sure is this is SFA worthy, so it'll be here, for now.

The idea would allow someone to venture into a more explained, more logical based discussion of the same concept.

Could the technology that mankind uses today, and has been using for decades, actually be technology that isn't our own? It poses a lot of questions.

    Further explanation:

Think about technology. Computers. Radios. Etc. Now, think about the human. The being credited for, not only the creation, but the expansion of this technology. That first human; the one who somehow took chemicals, metal rods/tables, and electricity, and put them together in a complex series of combinations, to create output. The first ones to take forces that can not be readily seen, and apply them with electric based equipment to make working output.

Could it be that we didn't actually do it?

    Are we using alien technology?

To be honest I just think the further you advance technologically, the easier it gets to further your advancement because of your new tools, greater education and new insight.

    Are we using alien technology?

While that would regularly be deemed true, that concept is the same as any other idea of "How did it start?".

To further advance technology, there had to have been a beginning advancement.

That 'beginning advancement' is implied in what the OP of that link describes as alien technology. And, while it has it's illogical holes, some parts of it makes sense.

    Are we using alien technology?

Computers started a while before the 1947 incident of roswell.

No, we're not using alien technology. Our technology IS alien though. A lot of it comes from foreign sources :D:D:D

    Are we using alien technology?

If our technology comes from extraterrestrial life, we would have known that alien exists a long time ago.

Yes it would be relevant for aliens to have contacted us in mass groups by now if we're using their technology

    Are we using alien technology?

Hell yeah we are! My nigga superman sold me some bomb ass kryptonite!

On topic: Aside from being imported from foreign countries, nope no alien technology. Really doubt that otherworldy beings would visit us, give us their tools, and allow us to learn without seeing it as an opportunity to just wipe us out and drain the planet of it's resources.

    p.s.

....Damn did i just make my own conspiracy theory, wtf.

    Are we using alien technology?

Nope the longer the human race goes on their smarter and more knowledge we gain. Most technologies are just advances to what we had before.

    Are we using alien technology?

    Forget about Roswell.

My initial thought ran something like this:

Extra-terrestrial beings come. We take their technology. We use it to jump-start, as well as gradually advance what is now our technology. Then, as to not arouse suspicious about the sudden jump in technological advancement, we place alien propaganda around the world, basically setting in place for all who are listening, a type of reverse psychology. We tell them bits and inklings of the truth, and allow them to base their own misinformed opinions and theories off of that.

    What is accomplished?

    We've successfully hidden stolen technology.
We now have advanced technology for our society, as well as our personal gain.
We have created a pseudo-paradoxical thought in the minds of everyone.

    *shrugs*

In the event that our technology actually isn't our own, "we" probably wouldn't know.

It's the same as, "If there were a cure for AID's, we would have, etc."

    Would it be?

Would it be ludicrous as to say that if our kind had been contacted by an extra-terrestrial group, that us as lowly people wouldn't find out?

Idk, when I first read the article, I got the idea that, had our technology actually been from an extra-terrestrial source, it was probably stolen, or violently taken from them.

While that may be true, the question still stands as to 'How we got the first traces of advanced, electrical technology'.

The human mind has basically 'caught lightning in a bottle' and made it perform an action, and no one questioned how...

    Are we using alien technology?

Just another conspiracy theory. Technology didn't just sprout up out of nowhere. The initial steps were drawn out, small advancements that have laid the foundation for progress today. You are saying that the progression from a massive computer which takes up an entire floor of a large-sized building had to be alien in nature, but the ability to turn that supercomputer into the size of a peanut 60 years later is simple human advancement on alien technology?

Humanity's success lies within the collective knowledge bank of the species. We are a colony, and by sharing information with each other we can instantly learn the accumulation of thousands of years of research and learning. You are simply having trouble grasping this aspect, because you view humankind from a solitary point of view. You think to yourself that you would never be able to build an iPhone from scratch in 100 years, so how could it be possible to buy one for $99 at Walmart?

Start looking at the bigger picture.

    Are we using alien technology?

That very same claim is what drives the opposition of your point.

We are the same animal. There is no super human. No being which exists in the same category as us, but somehow, is entirely more advanced.

The logic of it is that we didn't create science. We picked science up, and began to experiment with it.

Science can be advanced upon, as far as comprehension goes. However, you speak of 'initial steps'. Initial steps would require knowledge of. What I'm trying to say is, it had to start somewhere. These points would lead to the conclusion of: Someone, somewhere, would have had to have initial knowledge of.

It had to come from somewhere. And, like you said, it didn't sprout up out of the ground. So, where did it come from?

    Essentially.

By that logic, two blind men would be able to see just a tad bit more if they joined and worked collectively. However, we all know that it doesn't happen that way.

    -

There seems to be two options.

Option 1.) Man played ignorantly with a barrage of things that had no effect. Then, when an effect did occur, which, man had no idea of why, or how, man took that, and applied it to something else. With more ignorant playing of a barrage of things that had no effect, among one thing that did result in a difference, another effect occurred. And so on, and so forth.

Which still leads to the question as to how man obtained the knowledge in how to use these things. If the question can not be answered, then the option can not co-exist with reality.

Option 2.) Man was given a barrage of things, and was shown how these things worked. Advancement from observation took place afterwards.

Excuse me if my explanations seem biased.

Man is not born knowing that when he touches water, he will get wet.

    Are we using alien technology?

    No, this is stupid.

I don't believe in all the alien garbage. I do believe there is life out there someone, maybe intelligent,

Point 1, why aliens don't exist on earth: I believe there is life out there somewhere, maybe intelligent, maybe not. Unfortunately under the special theory of relativity, matter cannot travel faster than the speed of light. The closest sub-system of any star that could support life is millions of light years away.

Point 2, why we aren't using alien technology: The integrated circut was invented in 1949 by German engineer Werner Jacobi. It wasn't anything super ahead of it's time, as the telephone, lightbulb, and A/C and D/C currents, and radio waves were already invented. The invention was just following the current development trend in technology. The integrated circut later lead to the invention of the microchip, then the computer, and eventually the internet.

Once the internet was invented, anyone, anywhere could receive information instantly about nearly anything. Scientists across the world could share finds, theories, and data instantly. Today, technology is advancing so quickly because all the inventors, scientists, physicists, engineers, and all other modern professionals can share data so quickly, that current technology doubles every 18 months.

So no, we're not using alien technology. The internet wasn't invented in any particular way, it was just CERN's (french anagram for central European nuclear research or something) way of sharing data internally.

tl'dr: The internet is the reason why technology is advancing so quickly, and aliens weren't behind it.

    Generally, at least.
