Are there safe ways to voice chat with randoms?

I've always avoided things like Skype and Vent like the plague when it comes to RS because all you hear about is people getting DDosed. But, lately I've been interested in joining groups for PvM and Pking but most of them want you on some form of chat program.

Are there an ways to voice chat with randoms safely? Or are you always at risk of getting DDoSed when using those kind of programs?

 

As far as I'm aware your IP can be obtained through skype/veng/teamspeak.. But from my experience using them I've never had any problems.

 

I don't think its impossible to get an IP from teamspeak but its harder then skype.

 

If your only using it to pk with your clan, you shouldn't have a problem. Why would your clan want to ddos there own members in a war?

It's more like when your on skype to the person you about to stake bils to.

 

Skype should be fine, why would they do it to you anyway if your a member in their clan.

 

It is possible to talk with people over the computer, but just be cautious as to who you are adding and playing with.

 

You should be fine, even if your Internet does seem to start playing up you can just ring up your ISP and explain what's going on and request a new IP address.

 

Unfortunately it is possible for someone to get your IP through both Skype and TS. If they really wanted to, you could be tricked/ddos'd but like Laptop said, it's very unlikely.

 

^ also theres a few programs i beleive you can get like ddosguard/shield w/e its called, and a ip changer so when you connect it shows a false ip. a mate of mine uses it due to the runescape pure clans have to big of epeens.

 

you can download a free proxy so if someone does try to get your ip they will get a false one.

 

does a proxy actually help if ur using skype?

 

Proxies help online not skype -__-' but you can get DDOS shields, I'm sure of it...

 

im looking for people to talk to so i can do pvm and pk with too and everytime i ask to skype someone they say no because theyre scared of ddos -.- i have vent and skype and have been on with numerous people and never been ddosed.most people bluff and say they know how to but really have no idea.also you can use tinychat,they cant get IPs from there.

 

Proxies will do nothing if you're on Skype, if you're paranoid of DDoSing then you could consider a VPN or something that hides your real IP.
