[Sorta approved]Discord being a "safe haven"

The discord is notorious for being a toxic but also a fun space.
Recently, everything that is not suited for 8 year olds have gotten prohibited.
Now I understand there must be boundaries, but for those among us who partake
in the spam forum it has gotten rather bland.
It remained a "hostile", yet fun place for years until recently when the newest sectionals arrived.

Remember these fun discord ranks?


As stupid as it may sound they were really fun, and I personally see no harm in having them.

People have been kicked for posting pictures of cats cuddling.

Now, the harassment part is one thing which I will not express myself on due it it being none of my business.

Discord at this point is a resemblance of a 90's disney movie.

Please do consider the ranks, ruling, and the overall context before denying it completely.

EDIT: If denied, please specifiy in discord, atm it says "Spam forum rules & light trolling permitted. Conversing with friends does not equivocate to threatening/consistently harassing people."
This is way past spam forum ruling.

 

The ranks being removed makes sense considering some people have to donate and spend money to get ranks in there

The kissing was harmless but annoying since some people do check discord at work etc and don't want those images on their screen while in public or at work. I'm sure if the NSFW channel comes back you'll be able to spam them all you like

 

discord is not fun anymore, literally a safe place for pedos and everybody who cries about getting "harassed." Like there isn't a block button available?

 

An nsfw channel would solve the problem. People who don't want to see certain things wont have to and people who do have a channel. Just not the general channel. I have no problem with cuddling cats though :shrug:

But I am not on the sythe discord in places where im worried about what i might see. Im abstaining for now. I don't have a problem with the discord having more freedom but i also wont die on this hill if rejected. Have fun.

 

If people don't want to see content others are posting so long as it isn't gore/nsfw i see no reason why you can't just simply block them and move on.

These "rules" seem a little over the top and take away from the spam forum esq feel if people want to spam 2 guys kissing for a few minutes so be it, in the end it usually only happens because people give it attention and feed them. This can all be fixed with 1 simple feature built into discord

Those ranks were not necessarily "benefitial".
The NSFW channel is not somewhere you get to interact. Take into consideration that there's a block function on discord, and there are very few people people spamming such gifs.
Point being, it's been nerfed to the ground and yes I stand by it being a resemblance of a 90's disney movie cause' it really is. It escalated the same very day the new promotions took place and I honestly do not believe that is a coincidence.

 

I honestly didn't mind the pictures being spammed etc because it never bothered me and if the rule gets changed it wouldn't bother me one bit. I do see both sides of the argument and yes people can block each other my point was just the first time around it can be kinda awkward if you're in public or at work and a spam of guys kissing pops up.

I liked the idea of having different ranks and around 2 years ago I remember tmoe or someone added in a bunch of random pirate related ranks and gave them out to everyone (If i'm retarded and wrong about this then sorry) but my point is i'm a fan of random ranks in the discord however it does still seem unfair especially since staff will be giving them to people they know and newer users might feel left out.

If something could be worked out where depending on how active you are you get a rank that would be pretty cool but I don't see it being done unfortunately

The NSFW section needs to come back and everyone needs to quit being a little cry baby bitch. It's the spam forum, anything besides NSFW should be allowed and that's why there was a section for it.

Imagine getting banned for saying the word "dox" because there are people who can't accept there are trolls in discord. "excessive harrassment" shouldn't even be a thing either. That's the whole point of the block function on discord. If you don't want to see it or be a part of it then block the people who are causing issues for your little whiney bitchass.

This is what I mean. It's just fun, harmless and unique, and we do still have unique ranks from time to time, like "pumpkin". The ranks in question gave no perms, and no name color. Literally the only guy having a "funrank" right now is @DUTCH_OVEN considering hes not actually dnt'd lmao.

And let's be fair, LIFE IS NOT FAIR. If somebody wants a rank that bad they can ask a mod for it. Ranks being removed for that reason just goes to show how bad it's gotten.

 

Let's add to the topic that OPs tactics involve reporting other members when his idea of "fun" doesn't work his way.

This seems like it will spiral out of control easily. It also seems like something that will be inconsistently enforced.

People or animals kissing not being allowed? A user here stating under this it wouldn't even be acceptable to put a pic of 2 animals cuddling/close to each other?

None of this is NSFW or could even be considered NSFW. Banning stupid stuff like this can only lead to even tamer things down the line being banned - who suggested this rule in the first place and even worse, who approved the rule being added?

Spam Forum is already a weak shadow (if you could even call it that) of its former self. Steps like this new rule are what I'd expect a site to do if they were going public - and since I doubt Richard is planning on listing Sythe.org on the stock exchange, there's no need or reason for this kindergarten bullshit.

 

The "general chat" is already the spam forum section for the most part the main chat is very tame minus a few spam copy pastes or spams of dudes kissing. The trading channels and help section are all moderated normally.

The fun of the Discord chat comes from the light trolling and spam forum feel, a "civilized" chat would be boring and eventually die off as it would not have the active members that the spam forum chat would have.

 

No support. The recent rule changes have made the spam forum channel much more enjoyable. No longer will i click on spam forum channel and see guys kissing. Id be fine with nsfw channel returning as i never open it anyways due to the stuff people decide to spam. The truth is these rules cant be caterd around peoples antics to want to annoy others. Before these recent changes peoples desire to use the channel most likely greatly decreased. Part of your definition of discord being called a ‘safe haven’ is more of a mental sanity adjustment.I should NOT have to be subject to constantly see things i dont want to see that people decide to CONSTANTLY post. And while the ‘block’ button may work. This doesnt solve much as once someone posts something that annoys other people other people decide to post it aswell. Rules need to be constantly made or adjusted to make the spam forum channel bareable these days. In 8 years a lot can change. However some people never grow up and want to try harder and harder to annoy people. I see no reason why any of the rules recently implemented need to be changed.

 

Spam is spam, but would you guys consider that you take it too far? Multiple harassment reports (after repeatedly being told to stop), multiple Doxing reports (after repeatedly being told to stop) & multiple inappropriate posts that are meant for nsfw (once again , after being told multiple times to stop).
The spam forum is fun, but when you constantly disobey the rules & you keep pushing the limit of the rule & breaking it ever time, then this becomes the expected outcome.
I have my fun in SF via discord / the site, and I would like for the current ruling to be a bit more lenient because I enjoy cute pictures of animals (cute pictures include what the 99.9% of people actually think are cute, not some gruesome, abnormal beheaded animals....)
So all in all, this is what you guys decided when pushing the limits of the staff team & what they deemed acceptable. These are the consequences we all have to abide by now.

You can have more than 1 user on your block list. Making rules to keep a few users happy is not any way to introduce new rules. These pictures or videos did not harm anyone in any way shape or form. No ones boss walked in and fired them for 2 dudes kissing. This rule was simply enforced to keep people with homophobic tendencies happy. If people had been spamming gifs of 2 women kissing all would be fine and there would be no rule. That is literally enforcing a rule to keep a select few people who feel 2 men shouldn't kiss in a public setting happy.

 

Can't agree more, I have been posting this for months on end and no staff nor majority of discord had any problem with it. Rule implemented along with most recent mod promotion.

 

I'm all up for trolling on discord, but when i decide to check out what's going on on discord and see gay porn i instantly leave until the fags are gone. I don't care if anyone decides to insult me in any way, but when they start sending you dick pics that's too much(not to mentioned people often browse discord in public). After all most people come on sythe discord just to let their inner retard out and we should not limit that as long spamming of disgusting shit doesn't start.

It's about keeping the majority happy, if there is only 2 people who enjoy these homo pictures they can always share them in private messages. If you can clearly see no one else is enjoying your gay pics/gifs maybe it's not a place to post it. You can literally add a gay channel on discord and hex/izad would be the only ones hanging out in there. It's all about if something adds value to the discussions going on or just encourages people to leave.
