    Applications don't connect to internet?

If anyone can give me a solution on why all windows applications, besides web browsers, are blocked from using the internet, I'd greatly appreciate it. Things like minecraft, bukkit, MSN, screensnapr, all this refuses to connect to the internet, and I believe that's the problem. I've already tried to see if it was because my computer is trying to connect through a proxy; it's not. I've already tired to reinstall everything including java, minecraft, and the bukkit server build to see if I could get my MC server to connect; didn't work. I've already virus scanned my computer and removed one or two spyware and some registry problem; didn't work. Don't know what to do next..

Do you have a firewall on? (Windows firewall in particular)

    Applications don't connect to internet?

Yeah I've got it on. I have an AVG Free "resident shield" which is sort of a firewall, and the built in windows firewall both activated. I've checked for outbound rules though, and I can't find anything blocking the use of MSN or anything else x.x

Restoring my firewall to default configuration, nor turning it off completely helped at all :/

    Applications don't connect to internet?

You turned them both off and or added the applications to the exception list?

    Applications don't connect to internet?

I've turned off both, and I just tried to add each program as an exception to my firewall, still no change

Wait, is your computer connected directly to internet or via proxy? I didn't quite understand that part.

It is not connected through a proxy, I searched around google, and "make sure it isn't connecting through a proxy" seemed to be the general solution to this type of problem, but not in my case. My computer was never trying to connect through a proxy

I say save yourself the headache and just recover.

I don't think he can connect to the internet with anything else besides web browsers.
