K, so i got this essay due first day of school.

"Christopher Columbus has often been considered one of the most controversial characters in American history. He has been both elevated to the status of an american hero and vilified as a mass murder. You assignment is to look at the historical literature that has been written about Columbus and write a 2-3 page paper summarizing their thoughts on the subject. Your paper should not include you opinion. What you will be doing is what many historians do before they begin to work on a traditional research paper. You work should only include secondary sources from historians."

Not really sure where or how to start. Any help?

Ahh I hate the Pre-Colonial period.
Sounds like there is some type of primary resourse having to do with this.
If so that would, be more than enough to help.

    Are you using Pageant?
And do you have any supplementary primary resource books such as: The American Spirit?

I can't use primary sources, they want me to cite secondary sources from historians.

    - Background/Significance of Columbus
    - A little background on the time period
    - No thesis statement

That's what I would do, good luck!
