Ap Essays *i Want To See Yours*

I'm in AP World History, we're doing comparitive and DBQ (Document based question) essays now. I want to see your examples. On a US grading scale, I only want to see ones that have received a 7 or a 9.

Or for others, a 90% or above I suppose you could say. I promise not to plagiarize any of it, and i'm merely looking for format. It can be on any topic. I'm especially looking for DBQ essays. You have to be doing the version of the rubric that requires you to explain at LEAST one point of view (from one of the authors) and state at LEAST one other source you would have liked to have had but was not provided.

Free-response questions are the same as essays. Q3 is the DBQ essay

I'm not enrolled in AP World History, but I did take AP US History and the principles for writing the essays are identical. The number one advice that my teacher gave me was to organize your thesis and consequently your paragraphs using economic, social, and political ideas of the prompt.

Although the United States invaded Iraq to spread democracy and free them from the tyrannical rule of Saddam Hussein, ultimately it was the alluring business prospects of oil that spurred the war efforts in Iraq.

As a result of this piece of advice, I managed to score a five on the AP Exam.

 

The above thesis doesn't follow the rule of 3, I fail to see how that could have earned a 5.

 

I had never heard of that rule and looked it up just now. I don't think that that rule needs to be applied to writing in order to get a five.

Also, the way my teacher taught me led to the development of concise and structured theses and paragraphs. All said and done, I do see your point, but don't believe it is as crucial to writing a good essay as you think.

 

I'm still looking for an example of essays written by you, so I can hold a conversation with you about the components/citing/formatting of the essay.
