Jagex could do so much more.

I have often thought about what a feeble effort Jagex makes to stop botters.
It could be that they want a certain amount of botters, because if they really want to stop all botters than they could do such a better job.
The random events are so simple, and all can be solved using reflection algorithms.
A captcha-like system (Hello adventurer, my eyesight is faded, can you tell me what this rune says?) could not be solved by bots, but could easily be solved by humans.
Anybody have any ideas on why this isn't implemented yet?

 

Tbh, I wouldn't want this to be implemented.
I like botting.

 

No botters want it in the game, I'm just wondering why it's not.
It's such a simple thing to do, and it would ruin bots.

 

The tried this in classic and people circumvented the system.

 

Haha, let's face it :b Jagex knows that without a certain amount of bots, there will be a lot less players, they will lose some revenue, and GE prices would be a lot higher for basic resources (essence, logs, fish, ores).

It's just when the amount of botters gets out of hand, they have to do something to keep the population in check(like shut down RSBot).

They'll never fully eliminate it.

It's a symbiotic relationship: bots rely on Runescape(duh xD), and Runescape relies on bots to an extent.

Yeah, it's unlikely they would re-implement past anti-botting measures.

Of course, but I was thinking it could slow them down.
And it's more along the lines of bot devs than script writers who would be making ways to get around them.

botters keep the GE stable. simple as that. 9gp willows, 35gp maples. and there's mass stocks of both, just a couple of the classic examples.
i mean would anybody actually mine Pure essence for more than an hour without a bot, no. not unless it was >200k/h
