Hows Nascar a sport?

Please some one whose a Nascar fan please explain to me about Nascar i dont get it.. i dont get how could som1 watch that and call it sports.

I'm from the UK and Nascar is a sport.. I don't watch it but I know that it is a form of oval motorsport, would you question F1 to be a sport?

I find this question so insulting...

 

Can you drive a car several inches away from another car both going 200 mph? I consider a sport to be something entertaining that requires skill. As far as I'm concerned quite a few people find it entertaining, and the drivers make their fair share of money.

 

Driving around the same track over and over again for hours isn't exactly the easiest thing to do.

a sport has conditioning of some sort.

You are wrong. And you need a lot of condiitioning for nascar. It gets up to 150 degrees inside the cars and you are inside there for 5 hours. I think someone said you can lose up to 10 pounds in one race inside there. Plus the dangers of going 200 miles an hour.

Ping Pong I consider a sport because it requres hand eye cordination.

 

So does typing, hand writing, fapping (sort of), playing the guitar, but none of those are sports.

 

NOt just hand eye cordination. But i see what you mean. Also video gaming requires it.

 

If its so hard then why is there almost never accident where car just fly and people die.. theres never any accidents

 

Do you even watch Nascar? There's accidents all of the place. And its fortunate there's no people dying. I dont see why a sport is hard just because it has to have people dying?

Nascar is THE most popular sport in the US, if you dont know. Its mostly for the white people(considering the USA is 90% whites), people who live on the east/west coast know little of Nascar. Its more popular in the Middle States and etc.

Why is it a sport? Because its racing, its competitive, its got a goal that you need to reach to win. And you have to be the fastest and most skilled driver to know how to keep your car from overheating to drive at such high speeds.

If swimming is a sport, so is Nascar, because both require you to try and reach the end of the race at the fastest time.

 

Maybe he doesn't realise how complex the top levels of motorsport are.

These guys have to set up a car and fine tune it and have amazing levels of fitness and composure.

 

its alot of mental strength also... here in australia they had a competition on pay-tv much like your tivo called "Australias greatest athelete" and they got all sports stars from different codes og games like soccer,rugby,afl,triathletes,v8 supercar drivers and in the copetition the v8 driver came 2nd over a series of 6 challenges and each challenge was dedicated to one type of code for the sports stars

Which V8 driver was it?

 

NASCAR is a sport because firstly, it's a competition and secondly because you need certain physical skills to to compete in it. You can't just write off a sport because it's boring to watch. Lawn Bowls is boring to watch but essentially it's still a sport.
