    Admin Charges + Extra Costs

    Hi,

so I've got a mobile Broadband device with 3 & they attempted to take the money out of my bank on the 8th of may: I had no money in & the payment was rejected.
During this time they've now added charges onto my account because of this. But they've made no attempt to contact me letting me know of this untill today.
What should cost me £15 a month has now come to £58 from these charges.
I rang them up & they couldn't seem to back themselves up with the charges. I just agreed & said I'd pay the amount off right now. To which the women said There'll be a £10 charge to pay it now. So i've said I'm going to refuse to make any payment on this basis.

I don't see how big Companys like this can just throw together charges off the top of their head when they please.

What should I do? What would you do in my position.

I'm not sure if it's the "right" advice, but in your position i'd just continue to stand my ground. Tell them that the charges are ridiculous and that you aren't willing to pay them. Don't be rude with them though, that never helps! These large companies always try to have people over whenever they get a chance, but if you argue it out they nearly always back down as it isn't worth the time for them to deal with it. Good luck!

o2 Tried doing the same, I ended up just paying it. It's really pissing me off right now as there seems to be random charges here & there. I've refused to pay it & they said they'll get back to me.

Exactly, cba with it no more.

With phone companies, you can win easily. I've had legal issues with 3 and O2, both for inflated phone bills which should have been £30/month (unlimited text/minute/data) rising to over £300 because I've overloaded an 'unlimited' data agreement. What a load of bollocks. Just make sure that it isn't in their T&C's that they can do that, and if they haven't got it in writing for you on a sheet they gave you when you joined their contract, then appeal it. Most of the time they tell you to pay it and then refund the % they owe you at a later date, but try and get them to just drop it outright.

As IDB mentioned, phone companies are actually surprisingly easy to argue with. With that said though, be prepared for other events and companies that won't back down and make sure you have funds available when bills are coming out. I've been dinged a couple times for it. Sucks!
