Noob in distress

Hey guys,I'm new to the world of Rock,guitar and Bands.
I listen to a lot of Music,but don't know anything about instruments and whatnot.Can someone please explain to me about the instruments and shit? I want to be a guitarist right now and I want to be in a band,But i dont know what to do and which guitar to buy.Can anyone also tell me what a guitarist does,some helpful links on how to learn guitars and some really nice songs i SHould listen to and learn? I suppose Sythe Is filled with Musicians,can anyone please help me out here by introducing me to the world of Music and making me from Zero to hero guitarist? Thank you.

 

Well you should listen to some Iron Maiden, Metallica, Black Sabbath, AC/DC and Zeppelin to start off with. Then try some punk-y stuff like Sex Pistols to see if you like it. And for the love of God stay away from any emo stuff. And in a band the lead guitarist is the most noticeable sound in the band apart from teh music, the rythmn guitar provides the rythmn section underneath with repeated riffs.

 

If your just starting to play guitar. And not sure if your gonna stick with it Get a cheap squier. Man i loved that guitar when i got it hahaha. But Ibanez imo are the best got one and I love it soooooo much. If you want to learn guitar like bands. I started with easy stuff like Nirvana Ramones (power chords and stuff). then i whent up to Led Zeppelin with a few cool riffs and it was good because i wasnt that fast at the time then once i learned most of there stuff i started to play like Metallica, Megadeth and got faster that way. Then once i got quick i learned Dream Theater, SOME malmsteen (still not good enough to play most of his stuff but im getting up there) so basically listen to a few bands and see which ones you like and learn a few songs, Just look up there tab. thats my advice

 

Okay tell me some good songs by ALL THOSE BANDS MENTIONED ABOVE ?
and Thanks,but I was wondering ..should I buy a package? those are cheap and come with an Amp and bullshit...I dont know what to get.
And what is EMO?
Oh,and can someone please send me some links about the latest guitars and reviews???How do i know which guitar is the best for me guys and how do i know whether I'm cut out for music at all? I mean,is'nt there some sort of Website that gives u a music test to determine which instrument you are best suited for? how do i know what instrument I'm cut out for?
