Newcomer.. Any Tips?

Hey, I am thinking about starting designing graphics and art etc. Always loved drawing, and I like to think I'm ok-decent at it, so thought I might give graphics a shot. Anyone have any tips for a newcomer? Everything such as what to do, what not to do, what to use, etc is all appreciated!
