Fair Warning For Sythe Users Using PayPal

Hi everybody,

This is just to share my experience with PayPal and to prevent you guys from losing money unnecessary. I was using PayPal to accept payments for selling GP and Accounts. Unfortunately as any blackmarket place where you sell digital goods using PayPal there is a decent amount of chargebacks, usually coming from stolen PayPal accounts.

At the moment were there was around $3000 of PayPal balance in my account they decided to block my account for 180 days with the balance on it. I called them and they told me how i was most likely able to access my PayPal balance after the 180 remaining days. After the 180 days passed i received an email that i could access my balance, but when i logged into my PayPal account i discovered how they transferred all the money to themself.

When opening a ticket asking for help, they just refer to the "TOS" and will not say which specific rule i was breaking (to my believe i wasn't breaking any)

Please be careful when working with PayPal around these markets. Never leave unnecessary high amounts of balance in your PayPal account.

I stopped using paypal YEARS YEARS AGO. They locked/froze my account over $60 and made it a hassle to get it back. They are absolute scum. What had helped me years ago was messaging them via facebook support. Maybe try that?

 

I would bet my sythe profile that you were using the friends and family payment option just like everyone does as this is touted as the safest way to use paypal for digital goods. Not sure how much more clear it can get with the name "FRIENDS AND FAMILY" but using this option for business transactions is automatically a violation of PayPal's acceptable use policy and that's why all your funds were taken.

Instead of warning people not to use PayPal because they stole your money for no good reason lets go over some tips for using PayPal effectively since PayPal touts around 400 million active users, being able to use it a bit more effectively would be helpful.

the first one I wont even list , which is , verify users sending you money to the best of your ability. Whether requiring ID verification, checking their Sythe profile, searching their discord UID on google, whatever you can do to increase the odds that you know and/or trust who is sending you money

besides that :

1. Transfer any outstanding positive PayPal balance to your bank account at the end of each day so when (not IF) your account is closed you don't have any extra balance in it

2. Consider refunding payments that have ended up becoming chargebacks, odds you win these are low, and refunding the payment will resolve it instead of adding a chargeback to your account so that your account wont be closed for excessive chargebacks

3. Don't try and dispute a chargeback by saying you were selling runescape gold, or selling anything for that matter, if you were using friends and family. If you really can't emotionally handle refunding it, try to argue that it was a friend paying you back for something and provide evidence that you can without making it clear you were selling stuff.

4. Goods and services payments now support SELLER PROTECTION for digital goods, this has been the case for well over a year now. Of course it is far from perfect and you will still get chargebacks if you aren't verifying users and it still may be in your best interest to refund said chargebacks, but at least you can manage and dispute them to a larger degree before getting your account closed and your life savings that you like to hold in your PayPal balance taken.
