Update to Donation Center

At the moment when you click "Make a Donation" it just gives you the option to do a mail order or Western Union. I think it would be a good idea to give links to Plznate and Firez's paypal and gold donation threads since they are other methods or donating. This would be a lot more helpful to newer users. Thoughts?

Yes he did but PlzNate is doing gold donations.

This. Putting it in the donation centre now would have members thinking it was open and increased visitors to the thread (which is currently only open for queries.) Also if there is an issue and the Gold donation service can't or won't be started it could cause issues.

 

A similar idea was suggested during Spyike's era, so it's really no surprise.

FireZ is trying to work some things out with PayPal so he closed the service. I hope it reopens because I might donate more. As for the suggestion, that more than likely will happen anyways because they had a FireZ PayPal option the screen before he closed.

I don't know much about the donation button but I do know that it's probably safer than sending money to a person as a donation method, donators can post how much they donated and Sythe can confirm they have via PayPal and have their perks added.

• Accept donations made with credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal right away.
• No monthly, set-up, or cancellation fees. Only low transaction fees.
• Donors don't need a PayPal account to make their donations.

vBulletin subscription donation service

This is another way that could be used for donating. vBulletin should have this feature as paid subscriptions (donators can do one-time donations and keep their perks). I've donated on bobbamarket (trading website for habbo) via the vBulletin subscription service before, and you get the donation features after you've donated.

Bump. Should be a fairly easy and usefully addition so I don't see why it shouldn't be added.

 

It's an annoyance having to explain the same thing over and over, but since there was a time when I was unaware too, I guess I'll bother.

The reason Sythe doesn't accept direct donations is because many people could use it as a loophole to get donor ranks, in order to boost 'trust'. If you ask for other people's opinions, you'll find out that they'd trade with someone with a donor rank over someone with nothing anyday (assuming both have around the same post count/vouches/other factors), so it doesn't matter whether you'd personally give donors a special form of trust or not.

With this trust, they could be looking for 'big catches' on the market, and once they're done scamming, they might chargeback on their payment, which in turn will effect Sythe's address in a negative way (e.g PayPal disputes, possible limitations, etc).

Patience. You're not losing a limb if this isn't implemented. Something else is.

 

It probably will be added in as soon as the donations start.

 

If I can recover my paypal this week I will be resuming paypal donations, but may force people through playerauctions for security purposes.

I will have you buy X amount of some insignificant rs item that way you can never chargeback and win through them either because I will always have screenshots of the items being given to you.
