New scammer report system

Since irc is becoming popular again, make a password protected channel in irc for staff and implement a system that automatically posts a link in the channel when a new scam report is posted. This could also be done with spam reports but I figure scam reports are higher priority.

 

Actually, I would prefer to see this done with just spam reports, rather than scam reports, given that spam reports are more time sensitive and scam reports consume more effort.

Think of it this way, a scam report must be thoroughly investigated before any action is taken. A spam report does not need to be, and can be handled rather quickly.

If the staff member wants to dedicate time to doing something such as scam reports, it would be more effective for them to visit the forum rather than see a post in the IRC. However, if the report a spammer section is empty, and the second a report is filed it's posted in the IRC, staff monitoring the IRC can easily and quickly take care of it.

Thus, reports are handled almost instantaneously.

Something that cannot be done with scam reports .

 

As Deacon said, scam reports take a lot of time. Even if it's "obvious" staff still have to verify that it's a legit report. While with spam reports, it's rather obvious if someone deserves an infraction for it.
This could be implemented, but if it's not; it's no big deal.. Staff gets through them sooner or later.

I believe this would be a good idea although the system that we use at the moment seems to work well. The only issue is that it takes a while to ban a scammer thus giving them more time to scam more money before they are caught and banned. I think they should leave it as it is and just try to get the scammers quicker. (I know that's easier said then done, I am just suggesting more work put in that section then others.)
