    Annoying problem on game

As HP tech support has failed to help me, I decided to turn to sythe. (I feel as if people here are more educated as well!)

I've been having this annoying lag problem ever since I got my new computer. What happens is I can play PERFECTLY for about 10 minutes and then I get this chopy lag which makes it unbearable to play. 10 minutes into the lag and it stops, goes back to working perfectly then the lag will come back 10 minutes later.
This isn't my internet as it happens when I'm not playing online, and if I close the program out while it's lagging and reopen it, it starts up with the lag. This DOES NOT happen to web based games such as runescape and only seems to happen with games that require an installation such as Warcraft III (The reason why I want this problem fixed) and Diablo II.
When I called HP tech support they told me to reinstall my video card and then guided me through it, it failed of course and then they said to reinstall my operating system. They had said that it MIGHT fix the problem so I didn't think it was worth deleting everything to do that.

If you have any idea how to fix this issue or need to know any information feel free to post and I'll answer it ASAP.

Ok my first thoughts would be your RAM sticks are corrupted (or at least one)? I had a similar problem except it would cause my computer to freeze up. If you have more than one RAM stick, try booting up your computer each time with only one stick. If you go 10 minutes and nothing happens, the stick should be good so make sure to set it aside and do the same method for the rest of your RAM sticks.
If that dosn't work it may be a default with the video card itself. Sometimes new chips have problems, so that may be it. I know reinstalling a damaged Video card/RAM stick won't help. I also would bet any money that reinstalling your operating system will probably do nothing.

For people glancing at this thread with more experience than me PLEASE correct me if I am wrong, like I said I'm just taking a shot at this to get Carney some help.

I hope you get this figured out =) I had some faulty RAM + Hard Drive issues with my new computer last christmas; I had to send it back so that was like 3 more weeks of waiting >=|. Good Luck!!!

One of the computers at my school had this issue. The RAM sticks were faulty and the computer was unable to handle some software.

Carney, how much RAM do you have? Have you checked that they're in the computer properly and haven't fallen out, etc?

More than likely your RAM sticks are faulty as previously mentioned. Try switching them out and see if anything changes.

    Graphic card drivers.

If you recently updated/installed any new ones, you may have to revert back to your older drivers.

I had the same problem with ALL non-browser based games, until i went back about 3 drivers and got one that worked without killing FPS 10 minutes in.

It's been doing it ever since I've had the computer which was reformatted before I got it.

I looked to see if the RAM sticks were operating like they were supposed to and my computer said it's fine. I don't know how to manually check if they are working or not.

Do you have an old computer or a friend who has previously lent you parts or has is knowledgeable in computers/built their own computer? They could probably give you a RAM stick. Even the tech guy at your school might lend you an old stick to try out.

My mom is very knowledgeable about computers so if I could get some extra sticks then she could switch them out. I will have to ask my friend if I can borrow his old broken computer lol

Make sure the sticks you're switching in are the correct voltage or you risk frying your mobo.

Wasn't able to get any new sticks.. Is there any other solution to this or does it have to be the RAM?
