    Modern Science and The Bible

This is a fair assumption, that most active users on Sythe are atheist. And most users also reject The Bible only because it is wrong about modern science, and it is. Modern Science is what educated population sees as the truth about how nature works, and can be replicated with similar results, this is the main stem of all current and rational science. Science is only limited to what the Human can comprehend, it's scenes, and it's perception of reality. The Bible is a religious book which explains the way of Christianity. That's what it should only be. But here's the thing, it's not suppose to be right about Modern Science, It suppose to help people be faithful, and seek inner enlightenment. The Bible was written between 2000BC all the way to around 1000 AD, Modern Science has only been around for about 250 years. You can't prove to anyone that The Bible is right about Modern Science, or it has played a major part contributing to the development of Modern Science. They are two different eras of time. Matthew Maury, "father of oceanography", did not discover currents via the bible but he was in charge of Navel Observatory, He also knew about how Benjamin Franklin, was able to cut 3 weeks off the route to London from the Colones, he used his position and his knowledge to discover how currents worked. The Bible is not suppose to be right about modern science, nor God. This is why I believe that EVERYONE should read The Jefferson Bible, or The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth.

The Bible depends on being right about a few things, like Jesus coming back from the dead. That's in the core of what Christianity is about.

Personally I think the bible was made to keep order and put follower in there place, but AT THE SAME TIME it tried to educate people how to live proper lives in the view of the church.

Why has the bible been "fixed" so many times? Because values change over time, and how people perceive things change also.

i personally believe in an upper being(s) but not in the same way most religions view it.

The Bible hasn't been "fixed", it was written 2,000 years ago and nothing has changed about it. There have been changes on the way the Church should handle situations and the Church makes changes not through the Bible, but through Councils; the latest council being the Second Vatican Council.
