    AMD CPU Help please (Upgrade)

Hey guys, Recently my cpu decided to overheat itself and explode so I need some help on upgrading/replacing. Im going to list the main specs of My PC below and Hopefully I can get some help. My friend built my computer for me and I don't really know anything besides I need a AMD CPU. Im not really sure if having certain new CPUs on this motherboard can overload it or something but if somebody could give me a link to a new CPU it would be great. Now here are the Specs.

Also Let me know If you think I need to replace other things as well in order for a new CPU to run Properly. Id rather get a high end CPU instead of a lower end one because I don't really want to upgrade in 6 months again. So if I can run the top of the Line AMD processor on my current gear please let me know.

I can go up to $250 on my CPU, but if you guys recommend I have to replace other things also I will change that. So thanks guys. Also any other info you need please let me know.

EDIT: Found this. Would this work with my current gear? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113346&cm_re=amd-_-19-113-346-_-Product

I'm not sure what you're doing when copying/pasting the links but none of them are working. Check your mobo (motherboard)'s CPU socket and the socket required for a given CPU - the socket should match up (obviously).

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU_socket#List_of_80x86_sockets_and_slots

If you look at the chart on this page, it shows you which sockets (1st column) are compatible with which CPU's (4th column).

If you need any further help don't hesitate to PM me.

Like OneDown said, you need the socket in your motherboard to be compatible with the CPU.

I'm guessing that's why you're under the (probably correct) impression you need an AMD CPU - the more current AMD CPUs mostly fit FM2/FM2+ or AM3/AM3+ slots.

The other main thing that comes to mind is whether or not your new CPU comes with an effective CPU fan that has thermal paste applied to it. If not, you'll want to drop ~$25-40 on a good aftermarket fan and some Arctic Silver thermal paste on top of getting a new CPU.

If you want to fix your links, I can take a look at your specs and offer some further advice.
