Amazing Guide on Skateboarding: Facts, Info, Tricks

First off, Lets talk about the faces of Skateboarding.

One of the most famous skaters in the world, created popular tricks such as the 360 Flip (Also known as Tre's or Tre Flips), Kickflips, Varial Kickflips, Ollies, and many more.

Tony Hawk.


Another famous skater. Has many clothing lines, his own BMX Bike company, skateboards, ect. First one to ever land a 900.

-There are a average of 18.5 million "Skaters" In this world.

-It's not looked down upon anymore, Skaters aren't noticed as "Punks" anymore, now many TV Shows and Movies advertise skateboarding.

-A key skateboarding maneuver, the ollie, was developed in the late 1970s by Alan "Ollie" Gelfand as a half-pipe maneuver. Freestyle skateboarder Rodney Mullen was the first to take it to flat ground and later invented the kickflip and its variations.

-Skateboarding was invented sometime in the 1940's. It was invented by Surfers who wanted to practice their skills when it was too cold to surf or when the waves we're flat.

-Skateboarding was originally called "Sidewalk Surfing".

-The United States Marine Corps tested the usefulness of commercial off-the-shelf skateboards during urban combat military exercises in the late 1990s in a program called Urban Warrior '99. Their special purpose was "for maneuvering inside buildings in order to detect tripwires and sniper fire".

Tricks.

Ollies: To do a ollie, you put you back foot on the tail of the board, and the front one just behind the top bolts. Pop down and slide your front foot forward.


Pop Shuvit: Same foot positions as the Ollie, except with the back foot, you pop and then kind of tap the board to make it spin 180 degrees.


Kickflips: Put your back foot on the tail, and your front foot half will be hanging off the board right behind the front bolts. then pop down, flick off to the side, and land.


360 Flips: These require you to learn the 360 shuvit and Kickflip's. You start to do a 360 shuvit and then quickly flick your foot off the side of the board. This does a 360 degree rotation known as the 360 flip.

 

Good guide for me coz' i'm buying a skateboard this week. I think you should try go a little further with explaining some moves

 

This guide is alright. But the faces of skateboarding are all from way back when. Now the big guys are like Mike Mo, Chris Cole, and Erik Koston.

Nice good though, except youtube videos are way more precise, and skating is also kind of a visual thing so yeah.
