In regards to: Self-Vouching Punishment Reform?

When this thread was opened, there was already a poll put up which I don't think is the best way to go about things. When people see a poll, they most of the time just vote first without thinking. Putting the staff idea up just gives it a better advantage over anything else. In the future I feel that these sort of threads should be run differently.

First, they should be made without a poll. Instead it should just be a discussion thread where people can talk about what they think. Then, after some viewpoints become clear, someone should pick the top ones and make a poll with just those and no other opinion. This way, the people get more than just one option and they can think about it and decide which one the like best instead of saying... Well... I don't like perm ban... So well 3 month ban sounds okay... They won't read the whole thread, and doing it the way I'm suggesting allows them to pick between multiple to see what they like best.

Also. If there is a keep it the same option and 2 or 3 changing it to something else option, and the same option wins but the number of votes for the rest out number it, there should be another vote that just takes out the last place option or more discussion depending on the circumstances.

This is a good idea, but i feel that we were lucky to be included in the decision in the first place. It would be nice if it was done this way in the future though

I'm hoping that it continues to happen in the future. I just think that handing it this way just works better and will harbor better results.

I disagree with this. It will take too long to come to a decision.

If the result was "other option" in the poll, then it would take even longer than my method. So unless the mod option is selected it will take longer, which isn't efficient at all.

Sometimes you need to have a long discussion about a certain issue before a poll is put in place. Some people don't take the time to review certain points that were mentioned in the discussion and just vote with no reason.

Exactly. That thread is very long with very long posts and quotes. No one would take the time to read it all just to come to a decision. Making a poll like that heavily favors the mod's option which isn't fair to the community. Although I am thankful it happened at all.

Agreed, I can see how this could be applied effectively. However, it was nice to see at least some of the thread taken into consideration.

I agree, the poll was poorly designed. It should have been:
    1 month ban
    3 month ban
    3 month ban and twc
3 month ban, twc, and market ban
    Permanent ban

Although the poll had some broad choices, you can't get any specific as to what you want to do with these issues without a proper discussion first.

It was wrong, here is the right way? Thats your opinion. Thats not relevant to this thread at all. That wouldn't help at all. That wouldn't let the members have any say expect for the choices that the staff picked. The users what to have say, not just to pick from a list of option that the staff created.

I'm saying that with a layout like the one I presented, I see no reason for discussion beforehand. The staff is giving us enough lee-way by letting us vote in the polls.

We already have more lee-way than just posting. They allowed us to discuss and gave us the option of coming up with our own idea but the way in which they did it is wrong. Now, stop hijacking my thread for your own suggestion because what you are saying is completely different and off topic.

I support. Even if it does delay the decision, I'd prefer a stronger decision then a quicker decision.

Right. Plus it really wouldn't take much more time than it would otherwise, so its really a null point.
