[Denied]Adjust Discord usergroup colors to match Sythe colors

This is basically quite a simple suggestion aswell as a simple fix, to which I expect quite a few opposed to, however it makes no sense to keep it as it is now. Currently all usergroups shown above are colored in the Sythe Discord, however are not on Sythe. They were, but thanks to another suggestion the change was rewinded. My suggestion here is to have the usergroup colors match; change them all back to white again. The community groups can remain seperated from the other online members if it's up to me (https://i.imgur.com/Ig6tcX8.png) though it makes no sense to have something changed on Sythe while doing the exact same thing on the Discord server.

EDIT: I'm aware that Verified Members have always had the green color usergroup, while having a white one on Sythe. I'm fine with either having that one back to white aswell, or leaving it green. The discord server right now just looks like a living painting.

 

Do you mean transparent, or white as in the OMM colour? I support though if it's transparent; The OMM rank is really the only one I can think of that should have a different colour than green.

 

I'm not referring to username images, I'm referring to usergroup colors. For example yours is white, though mine is red. Bolt his usergroup color is also white, just like any other regular member, though, on Discord it's purple, because he's part of CDT. I'm hereby suggesting we should have the colors the same in all places, meaning, his should be white on Discord too. (or green if we want to maintain the verified member rank color)

 

I dont think its a big deal. I would just say make all special ranks the same color (cdt, tc, verifiers?, pr) . No reason there needs to be a color difference, but I think its a nice, subtle gesture to have a separation between these ranks, who help sythe in a special way, and regular members. They get their fun rank on sythe and I think a separate color is fine representing that on discord

 

Does this need to be suggested? I'd say just do it

This should just be done as Dunworry said, it is quite confusing at the moment

 

I kind of like community development teams to stick out a bit more, at least on Discord. There color is different than the usual and it will have curious users click on them to see why, this can result in more applicants.

Sure, newer users can get confused with the colors and mistake them for a staff member, but I don't really feel like this is common.

Maybe not as moderators, but perhaps they'll assume a level of trust. Regardless the reason is bothers me is just because it makes no sense, along with it being confusing even for me.

It's all about balancing features.
Sure the sidebar may look like rainbow parade but that's how discord works, and that's what discord users are expecting as part of their user experience.

You have to remember, discord doesn't allow for these ranks, miniranks, and standout images to specify someone is of a certain role. All it has is colour, and the sidebar.

So when you're looking at a discord:

If you now made Andy the same as the regular users. He would appear exactly the same as them. The lack of differentiation would cause users, and new users especially, to not instantly see that Andy is different.


Whereas when you're looking at Sythe:


Anyone, new or old to the platform can instantly see who he is, what roles he has to play, on every single post he makes. The colour of his name compared to a normal user is of no significance in the forum environment.



Sometimes you have to handle things in different platforms in different ways.
As much as uniformed systems are beneficial, there can be downfalls if you're trying to force consistency in a platform that simply is not designed to work that way.

 

I think making it consistent across both platforms only has positives even if small and no negatives imo

 

Community teams are permitted a color on discord while not having one on sythe. We tested giving them a color on sythe as well but that was poorly received to say the least, so we reverted that change. The discord can be run differently from the site, not everything has to be a 1:1 exact replica
