    ADHD, Myth or Reality?

When i was 3 i was diagnosed with with this condition. I'm just wondering how much you know about it and your opinion on it. Feel free to research on the topic and leave your opinions/flames.

ADHD, also reffered toas ADD/AD:HD is short for Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

    ADHD, Myth or Reality?

Reality. I have ADD and I have since I was diagnosed at like 14 or something. I hate when people don't know the difference between ADD and ADHD. I hate how people talk down about it. I do not take medication for it, even though I should and have been through a pharmacy of different types of medication.. I just smoke weed and self medicate now.

Depends who you ask, a lot of people believe ADHD isn't real, and that it's just an excuse for parents who aren't satisfied with how their kids perform, but who really knows?

I personally don't think ADHD is as extreme as some people make it seem.

    ADHD, Myth or Reality?

Different people have it to different degrees.

I for one, was diagnosed with ADD at the beginning of middle school. I take Vyvanse every morning before school, and I can tell the difference between when I take it or not. I for one, believe that ADD/ADHD is real, but that may only be because I was diagnosed with it.

ADHD is definitely real. This guy in my class is diagnosed with it, and no offence to anyone else who has this disorder, but he is SO ANNOYING.

It definitely is. Though I doubt the legitimacy of some peoples diagnoses' of ADHD/ADD, and it seems A LOT of teenagers have it.

    ADHD, Myth or Reality?

Disorders get used often these days as sort of a 'feel sorry for me' kind of trump card.

Sorry I did *such and such*, I have *such and such* disorder, thus making what I have done or cannot do acceptable.

IMO it's just a type of personality they have whacked a brand name on in order to gain you benefits to feel more comfortable in modern society.

I'm sorry that you have it and I feel bad for people but do but I feel it's almost like a 'get out of jail free' card. Kids that just act immaturely or kids with a low attention span are often quick to say 'I have ADHD' like that somehow justifies acting like 7 year old. I know it's a real thing but I'm personally sick of kids acting like they have it.

^ Agree with this. It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy. All disorders are.

Did you ever think the kid's just annoying and they put the label ADHD on him, and not the otherway around?

Nobody labelled him, he really has the disorder. During class, he can never sit down and always shouts out. My teacher is always telling him to shut the fuck up. (This happens EVERY day.

I know, but what I'm saying is the kid is just like that and the doctors "diagnosed" him with ADHD, but in fact he's just an annoying kid?

Based on your description of the kid, he doesn't necessarily have ADHD; it could be some other disorder, so don't be so quick to say that it's definitely ADHD.

A normal "annoying kid" would not constantly do this everyday, if you told him to stop, they usually would. The way he acts is always very different, he can never pay attention to what I'm saying and his mind is always on something else, like the ceiling.
