    ADHD and mental health

Hello everyone thanks for taking your time to read this.

I am a very active sythe member here but this is kind of to personal and i dont want it linked to the internet thank you.

So im taking medication for my ADHD.
When taking the medication it helps a tremendous amount. It helps me pay attention and really makes my day a lot smoother. I dont get distracted at all and its kinda amazing how much it helps me.

Its like being able to think clearly and focus on what i really need to do. Also i have perfect recall of what i studied even after the medication wares off.

    The side effect.

The side effect is really bugging me. When the medication wears off i get extremely depressed. This is what I don't know what to do. It really helps me with my life. Its like holding hands with your favorite person in the world. Then when they are about to leave they stab you in the hand with a knife. Leaving you with this enormous pain, but you know the pain will go away in an hour or two.

Thats what its like for me. It helps me so much that i do not want to stop taking the medication but at the same time its killing me.

I hope you understand how i worded this.
Sorry I will not be replying to this thread.
I will be reading all of the comments so please leave any if you have any thoughts thank you.

I'd personally tell you to learn to concentrate without medication. However you should probably talk to your doctor about this.

Side effect to medication, perfectly normal.

I would speak to your doctor about it if it's starting to bother you to see if they can prescribe you something else (assuming stopping medication altogether is an option).

I'd say speak with your doctor like others have suggested, They can usually offer something to help counter act the side effects you are getting. If you don't want to go that route, Maybe find something handy or ready for when the crash/wearing off of the medication occurs? Im not exactly sure how to put it, But have a game on your phone to play or something similar to try to keep your mind off and from wondering.

ADHD medications are basicly medical meth it is normal to feel depressed after not being on it but as the what you described it seems like you might have started feeling a dependence on this drug that could be pretty bad so I suggest you also talk to your doctor about that too. I've bin through drug addiction and it can really tear your life apart.

Sounds concerning, possibly the start of an addiction. Be careful with those medications, I recommend trying something natural..

Assuming your pills are methylphenidate (Ritalin)

You have to be careful with this kind of pills, because the potential addiction/abuse is quite high, as with any stimulant.

If your not abusing these then you need to lower your dose until you can comfortably handle the stimulant crash.

If this cant be done, seek medical advice from your doctor

It's called legal meth for a reason. Adderall can be super taxing mentally. With that being said, you are probably taking way too much. If you are diagnosed ADHD these are NOT side effects you should be showing. Visit your doctor ASAP before you fuck up your tolerance.

Adderall is Adderall. Stimulants will always do this, maybe you'll get used to it if you choose to continue using it or you might get less anxiety and bad thoughts with other stimulants if you switch, but it is my personal opinion to try to do as much as you can without the medications.

Talk to your doctor about this. You're not the first and not the last to deal with this.

Speak with your doctor if the side effects - perhaps they can give you something a little more mild. I think you're also relying on the medication too much. Have you tried home remedies? At home breathing exercises? Give it a go!
