Addy Gloves on Pure

I've heard from some people that you can now get addy gloves on a 1 def pure without the evil tree glitch, as claiming MM def reward is now optional so you can just travel to Ape Atoll by talking to Daero.

Can anybody confirm or deny this for me?

The only way [as far as im aware] to do it is wait for a spirit tree [think thats what there called, the mini-game like tree thats similar to shooting stars etc] to appear on ape atol, you can then talk to the spirit tree in the g.e and ask him to teleport you there.
