    Paypal Dispute Question

So a gold buying website scammed me by not giving me the gold. When I make the dispute should I mention it was for virtual goods. The seller has no protection for virtual goods so will I automatically win?

    Paypal Dispute Question

I think it depends if your paypal account is verified or not.
In there new rules is actually stated that the verified accounts will automaticly win over the un-verifieds.

    Paypal Dispute Question

If you mention it's for virtual goods, you automatically lose. Paypal's buyer protection policy does not include intangibles therefore any cases are always decided in the seller's favor. You're right when you say the seller has no protection, but that's only from unauthorized disputes. You don't have any protection as well.

The only way to potentially get your money back is via credit card chargeback or an unauthorized transaction dispute.

    Paypal Dispute Question

this is what it says in the payment

    Item amount:
    $108.00 USD
    VAT:
    $0.00 USD
    Postage:
    $0.00 USD
    Packing:
    $0.00 USD
    Quantity:
    1

This sounds like I paid for an actual item, thus if I dispute they will have no tracking id to prove they sent me an item. right?

    Paypal Dispute Question

Paypal doesn't care about virtual goods at all. Don't say anything about that. If you didn't send it as a gift file for an unauthorized charge and you should definitely win without a doubt. That's true that there would be no tracking ID so you could dispute that you didn't receive the goods but they might want to know what the goods is. If you didn't send it as a gift like I said you can get your money back alot easier. It might take alot longer than if you dispute it as an unauthorized charge. I would still dispute it as an unauthorized charge though.

Wouldn't they see that I used my regular ip though and it wasn't someone who hacked me.

Usually you are suppose to log onto paypal using a proxy so your ip will be "switched" off which paypal will see. At least that's what I have done in the past when I tried to dispute a scammer. You can try disputing it as the goods method see where it goes. Remember not to mention anything about virtual goods.

Yeah I know logging in as a proxy and disputing but when I sent the money it was my regular ip so I don't think that would work as they have it as the creation ip.

    Paypal Dispute Question

I can almost guarantee an actual gold selling website won't sell gp by any personal payment method on paypal. Your payment was either for a good or service. Just make up some random item worth $108 and claim you didn't get it. They will then ask this company for proof, and since it is impossible for this company to provide proof of any transaction since it is a virtual item being sold, you will win the dispute.

the best bet is to call up paypal and tell them instead of opening an unauthorized dispute
