Before threads are closed...

I think before threads are closed, all sides must be looked at before doing so.

Too often I have seen a staff member close a thread without looking at all responses, and it doesn't do much good for the site. It seems the staff have a predefined opinion before looking into a thread, and if it doesn't match their opinion, a suggestion is shot down.

This section is called "Suggestions" but it feels more like "Additions", because suggestions are rarely looked at on both sides, and only suggestions (more like additions) that do not have two contradicting sides get added.

If suggestions are not looked at unbiasedly, what is the purpose of this section?

Opinions? (lol this will probably get shot down too)

 

It's always our decision whether or not these suggestions are going to make it or not. Remember that the power to make these decisions is granted based on ones ability to judge whether or not making that decision is a good idea.

Finn stated something that is contrary to our rule about account sharing, so I'll wait for him to either edit the rules based on what he said, or withdraw that statement.

 

I understand this completely. I'm not saying you should add every suggestion that has popular consensus, but in some cases (very few) I have seen good ideas go to waste because of a staff member not reading the whole thread.

This is not a bash on you, but I would like to see a more unbiased approach to this system.

 

I did read the entire thread that you're talking about, but my reply addressed the suggestion itself as best as I needed to.

 

Well if this is indeed true, you would have seen Finn and the others stating that the rule was not a bannable offense. If that was the case, the rule surely must be revised or taken off, so that other users are not confused. You stated the rule does not need to be revised, yet in this thread you stated that it may need revision. If it is still up in the air, why close a thread?

 

That's not what I said, or what I intended.

A statement which directly contradicted the Sythe.org Rules was posted in that thread, however, given that the Rules themselves were not updated to reflect this, nor was there any mention of any rule-updating or any indication that he was aware of what the Rules currently stated about account sharing, I would not consider this statement an official update to the current stance (yet).

 

I don't want to argue with you, but you make it so hard not to.

That's a contradiction in my book.

Anyway, how can you have solid rules if there are unofficial rules behind them? A rule is a rule, or it is not a rule. You need to choose what Sythe.org stands for, and what it doesn't, otherwise you will have confusion, and unhappy members.

Edit: and current stance to me is the defined rule on Sythe's rules. I'm going to follow those rules before any other.

basically, I didnt check the official rules about account sharing until i saw your comment about it. I thought based on the lack of banning with your situation (when people thought you were sharing) that it WASN'T against the official rules.

the reason my posts contradict each other is because i was going through the official rules while replying to this thread.
