[ACCEPTED] Clarity on Spam Forum and Discord Rules

The rules are not clear and a lot of infractions/Bans/violations threads have been given or created due to the fuzziness in the rules. The issue is that decisions/rulings are being made off of a clause about DOXING and not off of the actual Spam Forum rules that it recognizes.

Issues based around Discord have been revolving around the following clauses:
Doxing. Although discord is treated as Spam Forum, doxing is still forbidden. This includes:
- Actively attempting to dox a member/staff member.
- Threatening to dox a member/staff member.
- Posting links that may be a member/staff member and/or friends/relatives and asking for confirmation.
- Any behavior that is harassing members outside of reasonable spam-forum behavior

That being said, the confusion lies around this sentence: "Any behavior that is harassing members outside of reasonable spam-forum behavior "
Reason being; REASONABLE SPAM-FORUM BEHAVIOR would be anything acceptable in the Spam Forum. Per the clause "All other conduct rules are ineffective (Spamming, trolling, flaming etc).", excessive trolling/flaming/harassment IS allowed.

If Spamming/trolling/flaming/harassment IS NOT going to be allowed there needs to be a separate formal Discord Rules thread created outlining it and CLEAR indication provided to the community that the Discord is no longer 100% Spam Forum rules.

 

I agree! Seems right now that even the majority of the staff team have no idea what's allowed and what isn't allowed in Discord. Would be beneficial to the server if people knew exactly what was too far.

 

if people didn't push limits and act inhumane we wouldn't be at this point. Just do the right thing, people. Act right.

I do agree there needs to be a clear ruling and understanding for limits going forward.

 

It’s because of the people and the ambiguity of the rules sometimes that I just stay away from the spam forum. Certain practices being disallowed, the general toxicity people seem to openly and proudly display there, it’s just... bad. I understand the premise behind it but honestly it’s repulsive and makes me not want to be around it.

That being said, what’s considered an “acceptable” level of flaming? I agree that it does need to be clarified and gun brings up a good point because active spam forum participants absolutely love to push the boundaries to see just how much they can get away with

 

If someone makes clear in DMs that they don't want you saying X to them, and you persist to do it, it should be considered harassment regardless of how negligible it is or how much it conflicts with someone's world view.

If someone keeps making comments towards someone who has told them to stop on multiple occasions (with proof), they should be liable for harassment. If the person being harassed can't show proof of them telling the harasser to stop outside of spam forum, the report shouldn't be considered valid as the current state of discord has people incessantly tagging each other with racial slurs and other behavior that can be considered harassment yet no clear line of whether or not the people being tagged are being harassed.

Just to be clear, this rule shouldn't be used towards those who use racial slurs or offensive language in general, but direct it towards people who clearly don't welcome it.

 

An alternative to this would be just to create a #toxic channel in the discord where you're free to be toxic as you'd like and it can be opt-in and opt-out of. The amount of toxic behavior displayed in the general chat of discord is seriously disheartening to any new members who join the discord and get a true peak into what the community is actually like.

#general really shouldn't be considered spam forum since new members usually have no clue what that entails and as it currently stands is pretty shit where if you're new youll just get called a vader and other things when joining.

 

The clarification is simple. Is the Discord Spam Forum rules or not? Because SF rules permit all of the trolling/harassment/flaming possible. If it is not there just needs to be an amendment to the SF rules or a full formal Discord Rules thread

 

Think people need to button up lol, the spam forum isn’t intended to be a safe space if you can’t handle it leave.

 

The entire sythe website isn’t spam forum, only one sub forum is. Why not make only one channel spam forum? It would somewhat address this concern

 

I am not against this @Dunworry I am simply stating Richard and n4n0 explicitly stated the entire Discord is Spam Forum rules. So if that is not the case or needs to change it needs to be known before simply issuing discipline.

 

One channel thing was done before and it was later reverted back to how it is now, that isn’t an option.

 

There is pending decision to clarify these rules within staff lounge.

 

Right so i'm not going to go into the meat and potatoes of doxing etc but I will say the following -

A lot of people use "spam forums" or sythe discord if you will, to actually fucking harass people. I have reported people to both @King and @Champ in the past (champ mainly) who turned around and said there is nothing they can do as it's "spam" despite being in the ruling that light trolling is allowed, full out blown harassment when a user has said not to contact them/stop being that way targeting them and instead it has been misplaced.
