Question to mods

Is luring in RS something that can get you banned on-site? Curious to find out, as I am fairly certain of a few pro lurers who are on the site : P

 

It is against the rules and has been since 2007.

Honestly, it should be against the rules. Imo, it's a form of scamming.
I remember hearing Finn scammed a tiny amount of RSGP before he even joined Sythe.org and almost was banned.

 

Its Nate, not Nathan. And I have been around RS since 01 so I am fairly familiar with it, I just was curious if actually doing it can get you banned. Thanks though.

I dont necessarily disagree. Its seems to be one of those fine line things really, since I dont think it technically qualifies as scamming. Guess well see : P

 

I really don't see a problem with it. Its in the game and don't think you should be punished for that, also its there own fault for being stupid.

 

Scamming is scamming, no matter where it is. Sythe does ban for off-site deviance.

It's a person's own fault for getting scammed on Sythe.org too, however it is still against the rules. It doesn't matter if they are stupid for falling for it, they still don't deserve to get scammed.

 

Hacking off-site, and scamming off-site are offenses, and if there is evidence, you will be banned.

 

Agreed.Scamming is scamming no matter where it is. I think that scamming on the game is wrong, Like "Ill trim your Armour for free etc."But when its luring is that really a "Scam"? They walk into the wildness at their own risk?

Also, I personally have never lured.

 

Sythe had a section for it according to the other luring guy I was talking to earlier before the 2007 updates.

 

So is phishing but that'll get you banned. Good question though nate.

 

..The only reason they walk into the wildy is because of the misconception provided by the lurer they'll get free gold. Basically lurers use someone's innocence in order to steal their possessions not scamming?

If your saying luring should be a bannable offence and considered scamming shouldn't bs-ing also be bannable? It does not make much sense to me. It's apart of pking in my eyes.

 

It's not against the rules, but it is looked down upon.

Luring was never a ban-able offense. I lured well over 200m (was the talker AKA the guy who would get reported) and I never received a warning/ban/anything. Keep in mind this was POST wilderness ditch... Right up before the wilderness was removed.

Furthermore, there have been numerous pictures that show p mods saying that luring is not against the rules.

EDIT:: I'm not sure if you mean against Jagex's rules or Sythe's. To clarify, my post is regarding Jagex's.
