i saw that first video a while ago

It's fun to read the comments from all religious people on that video.
They try to say they're right by cursing the video maker out and saying god exists. What good does that do?

So logic is a God? Does that mean we believe our brains to be Gods? No thanks.

I, as an atheist, don't see logic as a God, only as a necessary step in understanding a situation. Would you say I idolize logic if I say 2+2=4, since that's also a use of logic? Does that mean EVERYONE who understands the basic principle of addition idolize logic, or are they just other people using that thing called a brain?

So, are you saying logic is unnecessary? Sorry, then, I guess you shouldn't be reading this, as logic is the basic foundation of understanding and interpreting patterns, such as communication through these symbols called "letters" in a language called "English". Reading this and trying to make another set of letters in this language to refute this is another use of logic, i.e. an idolization of logic.

Would you say you're making logic a God by not believing in Thor, Odin, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or the Invisible Pink Unicorn?

Single-Sentence Refutation: Does everyone who can think believe logic is God?

As for the original topic, what you're describing is Pantheism. Everyone and everything is "God", so that leaves out the supernatural. That's kind of like Carl Sagan's views.

“A religion old or new, that stressed the magnificence of the universe as revealed by modern science, might be able to draw forth reserves of reverence and awe hardly tapped by the conventional faiths. Sooner or later, such a religion will emerge.” - Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot

I, myself, am an Atheist in regards to a supernatural God, but I am a Pantheist in regards to my awe of this magnificent universe.

I was generalizing to some extent, because this is how most atheists act in my experience. This is the problem with labels... and this is why I don't define myself. I'm not religious, I'm not an atheist. I AM.

Pantheism is another predefined ideology to describe something that should be self-evident but sadly isn't to most people. God is the universe. yet God is also a grain of sand. Both infinite in their own respect.

Logic is what turns language into dead symbols... the soul is what puts real meaning behind any of these words I'm typing. And the soul is really just the creative force, which is an expression of the divine.

Logic is a tool that has it's uses in certain circumstances but it is not something that dictates universal law, though most atheists treat it like it is, which is why I say atheists have turned logic into their God.

It's no better to turn religion into your God though because it's basically the same thing with a different name.

These words on their own are dead symbols, the entire system I'm using here to communicate to you is dead... I'm giving these words life by placing my intention into them - by putting my soul in them. Without spirit, these words would mean nothing. If you tried to understand what I was saying logically by referencing every word to the oxford dictionaries definition you would likely miss the true essence of what I am communicating...

And this is why so much conversation is empty, is because people don't know how to put their spirit into it...

And even sadder yet, this is why most of the people who read this will miss the point I am trying to communicate.

Of course I can dismantle the structure even more, to speak fully with my spirit... and then you'll REALLY have no clue what I'm talking about if you try to approach it logically... and this is what poetry is.

Listen with your spirit, and not your mind, to find the reality so sublime that hides behind the illusion of time to go with the flow so just feel me yo' cause my spirits got an itch and I gotta let it go off the chain outta the cage to speak it's piece like a leaf falling off the tree; graceful movements so elegantly embracing the pull of death we stand here facing to thrust our soul into the ground to plant new life through sacred sounds OM OM OM feel the vibration slow; keep listening, slowly drifting, energy shifting, swiftly sifting through to lift me up and help me choose what I want to create each moment is a canvas and we're here to paint so breathe in these words and plant the seed they'll grow to help you meet your need. Love is real, if you have the space, empty yourself and feel it's grace.

Peace!

If by universal law, you mean physical laws (i.e. Gravity), then, yes, Logic can't dictate that, physics does.

These words on their own are dead symbols, the entire system I'm using here to communicate to you is dead... I'm giving these words life by placing my intention into them - by putting my soul in them.

So if I put all my spirit and soul into the following sentence, it'd make sense?

fdgfdgsdjghkkh;j;hjkdjsaa

I'm saying that logic interprets the symbols and gives them definitions based on the context it's put in.

Of course I can dismantle the structure even more, to speak fully with my spirit... and then you'll REALLY have no clue what I'm talking about if you try to approach it logically... and this is what poetry is.

This is poetry,
The poetry of my soul,
Can you understand?

Peace.

If by universal law, you mean physical laws (i.e. Gravity), then, yes, Logic can't dictate that, physics does.

Physics is a system constructed by people who try to confine the workings of the universe into a Box. There's a reason why physics is completely revolutionized every so often - if the trend continues to repeat itself today's quantum mechanics will mean nothing in 100 years when a "better" system is discovered that completely contradicts some of the things in our current system of physics.

In any event, if current quantum mechanics can tell us anything it's that we're all creating our own realities at an individual level which remains connected within the collective, making real truth somewhat subjective! As it should be....

So if I put all my spirit and soul into the following sentence, it'd make sense?

fdgfdgsdjghkkh;j;hjkdjsaa

I'm saying that logic interprets the symbols and gives them definitions based on the context it's put in.

"Sense" is something that only exists when your using a logical system. When we start to wander outside the realm where logic is law, the realm of the spirit, then sense no longer exists...

But will I understand you? If that is your intention, and you truly do it with the fullness of your spirit - then yes, I will.

This is poetry,
The poetry of my soul,
Can you understand?

I can only understand as much as you want me too.

So yes, I understand.

Peace.

I really liked reading this topic. It made sense on a lot of levels. Logic can be seen as a "god" because it gives us a source of comfort and understanding. I also see Ughster's point on how labels limit us. We should be able to view the world without the constrictions of viewpoints set by others.

I know I just repeated some of the things you both said, but I'm not really smart enough to think of anything to add/discuss.

Why do people keep posting threads like this if somone believes in god let them.. if you dont then why do you care if they do? Waste of your time?........

Yeah someone on another forum told me that this is Pantheism, even though I was not aware of it when I made this thread. But yeah, I am happy that there are other people with the same views as me :)

I personally don't care what you believe in. But I am a thinking person, and when I look at where this world is going, I don't like what I see and I think of better ways of doing things, and I post my ideas here. Plus, religion is one of the most controversial topics there is, and many people have gone to war and died for it, so I don't really see any reason NOT to care about it.

Logic is the alternative to believing in a non-existant being by using proof to back up its arguments and opinions.

ov course the milk can lose, I drink it.
I don't believe in god, I believe in science and logic stated by the video.

I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't, than live my as if there isn't, and die to find out there is. Amen.

I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't, than live my as if there isn't, and die to find out there is. Amen.

Or you can live your life as if there is a God, and die to find out you were believing in the wrong one.

I'm sure God will be merciful to people that even believe in the wrong God but still put forth extreme efforts to be faithful. I'm sure God will accept that people are sometimes born into a religon where getting out of it can almost mean death.

You think there is a god to make your self feel better about dieing, giving yourself some hope that if you die you go to heaven, scared to face the fact that you only get one chance, and this is it.

Empirical science shows that intercessory prayer has no effect:

Are you speaking of the Christian God?http://www.templeton.org/newsroom/press_releases/060407step.html

I am a complete athiest and have been since I joined secondary school and was made to do Religious Education, which is possibly one of the most boring subjects created.

However, I do believe in a 'Higher power' which has nothing to do with religion. I believe this becuase surely in a universe as infinitely big as ours there has to be something behind the creation of EVERYTHING. Personally, I like the scene at the end of 'Men in Black' where our universe is portrayed as a small marble ball used by Aliens in a game.
