CnC on text signature

I was trying to go for a yarn/thread-like theme. Can someone please give me some advice on future text-only signatures?



When giving advice, please tell me how to implement your suggestion into my work (specific tool, etc.)!

If you were going for a yarn-like effect, then you accomplished it, but the first one seems to lack depth and/or lighting.

I don't really like the FOG on top of the second one as it obscures the render and you can't really tell what it is. It might be a bit better to either put the render in front of the text on say 50% opacity, to move the text down to the bottom, or to put the text on like 50% opacity.

 

I think you definitely have the tools, and possibly the skills, to expand into a more render-based theme. Right now you seem to be stretching Photoshop's typographical limits as it is.
