In contrary to what the person above me said, It's fine to use GIMP, of course It's not as GOOD as photoshop, but some of the basics are almost the same, though sooner or later you'd have to switch to photoshop after exploring GIMP, I believe you'll do better, and have a smoother knowledge about images after that.

About your signature, I believe you just slapped an image over a gradient, lowered the opacity and added your text, which is NOT bad. It's all about exploring, and imagining. You can look up a few tutorials for gimp around the interwebs. The best way to improve is by reading these tutorials and incorporating your own style with it. Good luck on your further ones. That's a good way to start.

I was only basing on my experience, though i respect your opinion fully; I believe it wouldn't be much to ask you to respect mine too. I've tried to use photoshop at first and it only confused me, so i switched to gimp, I've learned to make a few things on gimp, and tried out every tutorial i can read, explored and eventually got bored of what i can do. So i decided to hit on photoshop again, and this time, I could actually do stuff, that's because I understood how these things work, and by saying smoother, i did not mean "HEY I CAN DO AWESOME STUFF BECAUSE I USED GIMP BEFORE PHOTOSHOP"; I just meant the basic tools you use in GIMP, they function almost the same in basic photoshop. So when you open that canvas and get out your tools, you know how they function, you can work smoothly and flawlessly, because you know what these tools are for.

    I can respect that :)
You can probably tell, I'm quite opposed to GIMP.
I just get tired when countless people post horrific "signatures" in the forum that have been made in it....
