Weird Start Menu Issue

For some reason when I try to type something into the search bar a little x or magnifying glass pops up(as you can see in the picture) When I type my words don't show up but the results will show up(if that makes sense).

Is this a program that I can remove? A weird virus? Whats the deal? How do I get rid of it?

Yes, I've restarted it and its still there. Also my computer has started to run VERY slowly and I'm not sure why. I've ran avira, avast and MSE, ccleaner, and defrag'd all my disks and it didn't seem to help. When I restart my computer it runs quickly but then starts lagging horribly again. Programs are slow to start, it'll randomly freeze and words will take a while to show up on my screen. I have a bad feeling it has to do with my original issue.

edit: restarted again and it seems to be gone? What was it..worried that I have a random program somewhere on my computer. Also ignore what I said about it running slowly, found a MASSIVE video clip on my hard drive because for some reason hypercam has been running for two days straight, now that I deleted it everything seems to be working faster.

 

That must've been your issue.

 

I don't think so...the lag has come back. When I leave my computer on for longer than say 1/2 an hour it starts to lag. Then when I restart it starts being quick again..

Also no one has been able to help with the start menu icon thing, don't want a hidden program that still might be somewhere.

 

Is there any process that is using a large amount of memory?

 

No, something that I hadn't looked at though.

 

You should go look next time its being slow.
