Mega upload gets shut down.

The FBI has confirmed that local authorities have in fact arrested Kim Schmitz as well as three other mega upload employees. There are outstanding arrest warrants for three additional employees.

The FBI has said in a press release that it and other law enforcement agencies have executed 20 search warrants in eight countries, seizing $50 million in assets and taking down mega upload’s servers. The agency is alleging that mega upload generated more than $175 million in profits and caused “more than half a billion dollars in harm to copyright owners.”

I feel bad to live in America. People are afraid to admit or even acknowledge how we are failing..I just watched this Republican Debate. It is sad. OT: I amd glad Anonymous is fighting back. We need an uprising or something to get the attention of people so that we stop this. How can other countries see it and we are too focused on personal agendas to see the effects as a whole. Sorry for the rant I am just pissed.

 

This has absolutely nothing to do with SOPA. The charges brought forth are more seriously. Credit card fraud it one of the many.

 

This is correct. The shutdown of MegaUpload is nothing to do with SOPA, as it has many outstanding charges and its shutdown has been a long time coming. However, the shutdown of it has tied in nicely with SOPA.
