I do hope this is the correct section. My apologies if it isn't.

    The trade:

I contacted rab17 after seeing his post offering a blue to someone in exchange for their white+$, located in this thread:

    http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=995180

I sent him a PM and he contacted me on MSN, and, after establishing a price extremely quickly, negotiations began into how we were going to trade. He wanted WU instead of PP, which is fair enough, but then claimed the use of an MM/OMM was pointless in WU trades, and consistently refused to show me the partyhat in game, giving plenty of different reasons why (with one being particularly humorous, as you shall see in the chat logs.)

    How they scammed:

They did not, but I believe I was being cheated, mainly due to avoiding simple requests like proof of the hat ingame, and use of an MM. More particularly, the picture proof he sent me of the hat.

Proof that you were not talking to an impostor:

I sent him a PM with my msn info asking him to contact me. As it was private, only he could have seen this. Picture of PM:

At this point he logged off. Here is the picture he sent me, which made me doubt he actually had the hat. Just for accuracy's sake, I would like to say that it took him 5+ minutes to send the picture I requested:

Now I don't know if you're seeing what I am seeing, but that partyhat looks cut in to me. I believe I was justified in pushing to see it ingame, and I believe his excuses are an attempt to not show it to me because he does not actually own it. I can't come to any other conclusion as to his avoidance in showing me the hat, since he actually sent me a picture with the name left unedited, surely he can't have though I was affiliated with Jagex. Really?

Like I say, he didn't actually scam me since he logged off after I pushed for the proof ingame, but I believe he would have taken my money and ran. It all just seems highly suspect. I hope you see the same as I do.

I will ask for ingame verification, until then, we have to wait.
