Rare Prices?

What do you guys think will happen to rare prices if free trade is introduced?

Specifically the Santa hat, as that's what I have, I have already lost 30m from it, I am keeping hold of it incase it goes back up, bt do you guys think it will go back up to 100m or not?

 

Rares will always go back up =) Because these types of rares will never be reintroduced back into the game. Usually santa's go down after Christmas, then slowly climb back up...happens every year =P

 

it is hard to speculate how prices will fluctuate following the release of free trade/wildy. Back in the day when free trade/wildy were still available, santa hats were much cheaper. I think they are worth a lot right now because of the current runescape economy (which has a huge surplus of gold compared to the old days). Prices may spike at first, but it is my guess that prices for rares will ultimately go down, as the amount of currency available in the game as a whole will decrease with pking, staking, luring, and scamming from free trade.

 

How far do you think it will go down though?

 

Everything will drop back down after a few months, can't be asked to explain currently as I don't feel like typing a paragraph, but here's a simple explanation:

Every day billions of GP enter the economy due to PvP, once that's gone inflation will go down tons.

 

I am needing a rough estimate.

 

10-30m, the price of the santa hat post-removal of free trade back in early 08.

 

i think they'll drop down quite a bit to what amount i dont know no one does cause it depends on so many different things the economy will be in the hands of the players a lot more then it is now so we'll have to see which way it goes it could drop to what it was before they got rid of wildy or it could rise higher then it was at peak.

I think it'll settle at maybe 50-60m though. Definitely not going to see santas going for 100m again for a long time.

 

What about masks? I'm thinking of buying either a santa or a mask and just holding it to it for a few months/years. So a long time investment.
