Protection With PayPal Gift

I don't foresee a problem with this payment but I am trading with a Newcomer. He seems trustworthy and willing to make the payment. For my security he will be sending it as a PayPal gift.
Again, I don't see problems with the transaction, but would he have the ability to file a charge back with this? I know he can't do it via the PayPal site, but could he contact his bank attached to the account and have them take the money from me? If they were to dispute the payment with PayPal, would my money be taken?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

 

The only way he would be able to charge you back, is if:

1. The PayPal he is sending money to you from is hacked in which case
- PayPal will hold the money until the issue is resolved (most likely it will be given back to the original account holder's bank )

2. He is on a Proxy sending you the money. In which case he will report that his PayPal was hacked for this transaction. While it is very hard for you to win in this situation ( I have never ). I've heard it is possible if you take down enough information. Always becareful, and i suggest using an OMM so that you know the money is coming from somewhere legit.

The big problem comes if he's using a credit card-funded payment. It's really easy for someone to just contact their credit card provider and tell them that they didn't get their virtual good. Credit card companies offer sellers no protection for virtual goods. He can do the same thing with his bank too, but it's harder. Take pictures of your conversations so you can prove that a trade occurred.
