Rare Names

I keep seeing more and more rare names, are old players starting to play again?

 

No, Jagex recently cleared out a bunch of inactive names, clearing them up. Meaning all the rare names you see were created no more than 1 week ago.

 

They're available as display names and newer players take them.

I myself got the name Synthetic which I'm very proud of

no its the update that jagex made, you can have display name if the person

-has never made membership
-not logged in over a year
etc..

 

How do people know if the names are avalible?
They just start typing random usernames and hope to get lucky or what?
