Has anyone actually been banned for showing their RS username?

When people sell their accounts and don't block out the name, I always see people saying "block out your name JaGeX will ban you!!"

Well does anyone have any evidence of actually getting banned for that?

 

It's only for security purposes, people stop asking the same every thread.

 

This is bullshit they dont even ban bot when everyone know how they act do you think they will spend time spying forum and say hey this guy selling his account.

Also i can get a screenshot of random account and say im selling it but im not even the real owner. So they cant ban someone for that.

 

What security purposes would that be?

1. Jagex and all affiliates aren't legally permitted to even view the site.

2. A picture can't always prove ownership of the account

It's just spam to be posting 'block out your name'

o/t - I heard some people get banned for acc selling/sharing, so it's for security reasons.

 

I don't think they do, but I've never seen evidence one way or the other.

Well lets see. This website has a Blackmarket. High level rs accounts with high potential are sold on this website. JaGex have sentinels that monitor this websites. If they see an account in the midst being sold, and its username is present, they will cease the obvious opportunity.

 

I am actually very curious, but it would be kind of hard to prove this thing

 

I do think I have heard some cases of it happening to a few well known users on this site that use the market.

 

I'm actually selling an account right now showing its username. Lets see what happens in the next few days.

 

You won't get banned over a few days, you could have it up for years and they may never notice your thread if they ever do look at this website.

 

I only block the name out when I admit to botting in the same thread.

Otherwise, and with breaking other rules, I don't bother.

 

I think its just like mentioned a security thing and just to make sure, and once one person started doing then others followed, and now it has just become the "thing" to do.
